Michael “Crazy” Arnold a serial rapist?

Thirty-three year old Michael ‘Crazy’ Arnold, an accused rapist of Mitchell Estate area in Ladyville, is in the Remand Section of the Central Prison after being fingered for a number of sexual assaults over the past week.  Arnold, who already had several offences before the court, was additionally charged on Wednesday with aggravated assault of an indecent nature upon a minor and for burglarizing the home of Martha Palma.  But today he faced a more serious charge for allegedly raping a twenty-nine year old woman.  That incident occurred on Saturday, September eighteenth when Arnold was on a rampage in Ladyville.  The victim who said she did not initially report the incident to police for fear of her life has come forward and spoke candidly with News Five’s Isani Cayetano about the frightening ordeal she endured.

“I pass fi go use dih bathroom, but fi he room dah before the bathroom and he holla fi me cause ih look like he mi drunk. He holla fi me and he tell me come ya and I tell ahn no I need fi go use the bathroom. I musi like wah foot away from me and he tell me come yah again and I tell ahn no cause I have to go use the bathroom. And then he grab my hand and he pull me ina the room and he put the gun pan me and he said strip naked and because I tell he no he said then suck fi he (beep). I tell him no dat dirty. And I tell he I have my (beep). And he seh he noh give wah (beep) because he soon dead and man want he right now so he just wah do weh he have to do. He seh if he even have to kill me ina this room and nobody no know, he wah do that. So haul up my skirt and haul down my pants and I di try fight he from noh mek he go pan top of me. And he put the gun under the pillow and pick up the machete and tell me if I mek noise or seh anything, he wah chop off my neck cold off. And then lock up me ina the room and then nobody noh wah know weh happen until couple days after. So I just gone along with the program and all weh I coulda mi do when I just mi deh the cry, I tell he please use a condom at least, if that dah weh you do, please use a condom, I got my (beep). That’s all I coulda mi stay pan. Then he lift up my two hand and put the gun to my head and tell me if I noh open my foot, he wah shot me right now. So I just comply with him the same way. I just still di beg ahn please use a condom, please use a condom. And ih put on the condom and dah so he forced ihself pan me. I couldn’t fight; I couldn’t make noise, nothing and people mi deh right wrong. But I fear my life because he tell me if I go say anything he wah shot me and he wah shot my son and I dah wah single parent and I noh got no one behind me. So just because wah incident weh gone on dah Ladyville with he, and I hear police have he that dah weh make I gone make the report. So all I want seh to anybody else who ih do it to out deh, fi mek deh come in and try fi put he dah back because he noh bizniz out yah. They kinda man they need fi dead. They noh bizniz out yah cause deh the chance people and nothing noh come out ah it. They just go dah jail and that dah they house.”

“Your experience had to have been a very traumatic one. How are you coping with that? How are you dealing with the fact that you are now a rape victim at the hand of this young man?”

“How I di cope with it, how I di cope with it? I noh happy bout it right but me as a now mature and older person, it noh wah bother me to that extent to seh trip and you know. But I just want justice and somebody try just deal with him cause I noh happy with it. This person wah end up and turn out and do something like this—threating to kill me and my son. That da why I mi back down from dih complain.”

In court this afternoon, Magistrate Dorothy Flowers denied bail to Arnold since he has a similar offense before the court and there is a possibility that he would interfere with the witnesses.  In 2008 Arnold was freed of a murder charge in which a Chinese businessman had his throat slit.  In 2009 Arnold was also charged with raping a minor in the Yabra area of Belize City.
