Pudgy teddy bear was fed $28,000
A joint operation conducted between the Crimes Intelligence Unit, Special Branch and Gang Unit netted close to thirty thousand dollars for the cops. On September twentieth at five-thirty pm a search was conducted at Marcello Reina’s residence on Curl Thompson Street, in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City. The search of Reina’s house led officers to a cute but chubby teddy bear. It turned out that it wasn’t just stuffing that made the bear pudgy but seven bundles of twenty dollars U.S. bills. Reina, the teddy bear and the cash were escorted to the Queen Street Police Station. The money was counted in front of Reina and netted fourteen thousand U.S Dollars. The income tax department was informed and fifty percent was confiscated on behalf of the Government of Belize. The rest of the cash was labeled as an exhibit and Marcelo Reina was charged for Money Laundering.
50% as taxes? Wow! I mean y would she have so much money in the Teddy bear, but that tax amount sounds high. Anyway, I guess if she didn’t fight that, it couldn’t have been made legally cause nobody will give away hard earned money that easily…
where is the rest of this story ………… you need to report the whole story how did they find this money what led them to this search how was this money obtained how many people involved …………….
Sounds like its illigal to have a lot of money in belize.is that what they call a free country?pooor woman.i……………….. how this woman got this money………………
Is that money not suppose to stay intact until this person is tried and convicted in court. With the government taking its share, the money really is not true evidence. True evidence is the entire package that was confiscated. Could the government not wait until after the trial to get their cut of teh laundered money. Whose pocket is the confiscated government share going to go into.
Tricky-Dickey …………… to the rescue……. for 50% of the 50%. LOL
If money is tainted with blood, and it’s your kid’s life that was taken
then to hell should the road lead, to those who claims it’s glory.
If money is tainted with blood and it was some stranger who
fell to it’s glory, then the blood does not matter anymore.
If the Chinese close their stores when over money one of their lives is lost,
their message is money is their glory and Belize is their silent victim,
for when a poor Belizean Street kid is killed who closes their shop and
mourns Belize’s lost, no one. We judge , and instigate, and suppose
but no one lifts a voice to denounce, poverty and ignorance and fat Politicians, and
Chinese protector cops like a mule called broadster,. find solutions not add ignorance.
GOB grabbed 50% of either laundered or stolen money! Therefore GOB is guilty of either money laundering or being in psession of stolen property!
Whatever happened to guilty until proven innocent? Let’s take this down the line a bit further, Supreme Court case will fold, and the charges will be dropped, as not only will ickie Bradley tear the Prosecution and DPP’s case to shreds, but the other 50% will be missing from the evidence room.
Little bit further on, and the formerly accused will sue the GOB & Police department for wrongfull arrest and the missing money.
Criminals win again, thanks to stupidness and greed! That money should have been sealed and lcked away as evidence – all of it. But instead, some politician (Who knows, maybe the Minister of Police) has a lot of US currency to play with – in the name of good governance!
Sorry, meant to say “Innocent until proven guilty” in my previous comments. But then again, this is Belize and this case involved US Dollars, so I was probably right the first time!
Now the Police have an excuse to raid EVERY home in Belize to search all stuffed toys!!!! Oh Lordy!
Just doesn’t sound right. Her have that amount of money (especially hidden in a teddy bear…for what reason?) and the 50% TAX. Just doesn’t add up!
