Mark Medina blames gun on his father, but court finds him guilty
Mark Medina walked from a murder charge in early 2009, but since then he has been a fixture at the Central Prison with three convictions following that acquittal. The third was today, when he was found guilty of Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers imposed concurrent sentences of two years each for the firearm and the ammunition. The bust was made on December twenty-eighth, 2009 at Medina’s residence on Berkeley Street. At around two a.m. police presented a warrant to Medina, his sister and parents then conducted a search of the house after being tipped off that stolen items were in the house. When asked if he had anything to declare, Medina handed over a nine millimetre pistol loaded with sixteen live rounds of ammunition. All four family members were detained and charged. Medina initially owned up to the gun and said he kept it for protection, but during trial he told the court that it belongs to his father. He was convicted, nonetheless, and his parents and sister were freed. Today was not Medina’s last trip to the courthouse; he will appear on November fifteenth for allegedly stealing money from his ex-girlfriend.

Here is the poster boy for enacting a “3 strikes” law in Belize. If we had one, he would be sentenced to life in prison for his third serious crime, and he would never trouble the good people of Belize again.
Studies credit “3 strikes” laws in the States for the reduction in crime there. The bad criminals get put away for life after the third serious conviction.
How many victims is one person entitled to hurt?
AND ………………………THE POLICE PRESENTED A WARRANT!!!
