Date for PUP Unity Convention set
In other news from the PUP, the executive of the party met this morning at Independence Hall. From what we gather, the meeting was constructive and cleared the way for a number of contentious issues leading up to what has been billed as the Unity convention set for October seventeenth. Firstly, both Bill Lindo and Carolyn Sandiford Trench have withdrawn their challenges to the post they currently hold. The other significant issue to come out of the meeting was in respect of deputy leaders.
There are four nominations to the four posts: Dan Silva, Carolyn Trench Sandiford, Mike Espat and Francis Fonseca who, we are told has, has agreed to continue to serve. As far as we know the two other deputies, Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde will be approached along with Florencio Marin to try and work out a way for them to hold prominent positions on the executive, this by virtue of their status as Parliamentarians. If this sticks until then, no challenges are expected at the October event.
