Daughter relates mother’s trauma during home invasion
And while police have made some strides in solving the home invasion, today Ruthlyn Munnings, the daughter of the traumatized victim, told us off-camera how the incident unfolded on Monday afternoon.
Voice Of: Ruthlyn Munnings, Daughter of Home Invasion Victim
“What happened my daughter just came from school and my mom didn’t get up in time to lock the bar door and I guess the guys were not too far away and was watching her. They just came upon her suddenly, put a gun in her face and tell her that if she makes any noise, they are going to kill her. At that time one of them duct taped her hands, her feet and her mouth. By that time my baby was in her room changing her clothes and she came in the corridor and she saw two men over my mom. She went back quietly in her room, she went to look for her telephone and she said “Mom, two thieves are in the house, grandma is crying.” And that’s when I called 911, I called my dad, which my dad came first and by the time I arrived, the police came.”

“Now they got away with a lot of stuff worth around twelve thousand dollars and the police have recovered most of those items. Do you believe that those people are from the same area?”
Ruthlyn Munnings
“Well, what we got to understand, it was, they were at a neighbor’s house watching my mom. And I guess they just waited for the right time to attack her noh.”
Rosaline Munnings lives beside the home of Eyannie Nunez, who was murdered as she slept in her bed on September twelfth. Munnings is still very traumatized by the invasion and the family has already begun to protect their property. Today workmen were adding height to the fence around the yard because the family suspects that the thieves jumped the fence from an adjoining yard so as not to alert the dogs that they were in the yard.
That’s crazy. At least this family can try to safe guard their home. I weep for those who can’t. This is a terrible crime n I can only imagine how traumatic it must’ve been for that woman. Thank God she wasn’t hurt.
DO NOT PUT YOURSELVES IN PRISON. DO NOT BUILD HIGH FENCES AROUND YOUR PROPERTY. DO NOT PUT BARS ON YOUR WINDOWS AND DOORS. PUT TRAPS AROUND YOUR PROPERTY AND INSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE. IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW, JUST GO TO THE LIBRARY OR LOG ON TO THE INTERNET. THERE YOU WILL FIND ALL THE INFO THAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THE TRAPS. IF YOU STILL DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO IT CALL ?????????????????????????????????? NUMBERS WILL BE COMING SOON
Ruthlyn stay strong but I feel for your mom, luckily your daughter had the courage to call you. Very brave girl. Its quite traumatizing for your mom and the family, I hope they find these animals.
Ms. Ruth betta ker them with you fu live or relocate some other way gial. Belize City is getting out of hand and a lot of family talking about leaving and taking their small business elsewhere if this continue.
I’ moving to belize soon. I’m coming ready for any thing. I had a safe room add to my house and camers all over … I’m ready I hope they are too… bring it …
I think its a shame that you can’t live happy in your own home.
