Gloria Hall faces six charges following death of her grandson

Police showed no mercy when they threw the book at Corozal businesswoman in the import/export business, Gloria Hall, following a traffic accident in which her own grandson was killed. On Monday, police formally arrested and charged fifty-four year old Hall with a string of charges including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, negligent grievous harm, negligent harm, driving without due care and attention, failure to give way on a major road and failure to confirm a traffic sign. The charges originate from a fatal traffic incident which occurred on June tenth, when Hall had just left the Santa Elena border area and was heading to Corozal Town in a van. At the same time twenty-three year old truck driver Marcelo Villamil was towing a forty-foot container towards the customs checkpoint. Hall reportedly failed to stop at the junction, and Villamil collided into her vehicle. As a result of the impact, her four month old grandson Shawmar Hall received severe injuries to the head and body and died instantly. The other passengers in the van: Michelle Hall, Shawmar’s mother, Anabel Vivas, and Maritza Vivas were treated for minor cuts and bruises and released. Hall also suffered severe injuries to her head and chest.
