Traffic warden, the victim of traffic accident

The job of traffic officers is to direct the steady flow of traffic and to detect traffic violations.  But on Thursday afternoon one traffic warden became the victim of a traffic incident while on duty.  Thirty-eight year old Emil Pinelo was on a motor cycle assigned to the San Ignacio Traffic Department in Santa Elena doing regular checks.  Pinelo stopped a red Toyota car driven by Gilroy Nicholas and discovered that Nicholas was driving without a valid driver’s license and that the vehicle he drove was not licensed.  Pinelo instructed Nicholas to report to the San Ignacio Town Board, but instead, Nicholas reversed the car on the officer and his cycle. Pinelo suffered injuries to his right foot and had to receive medical treatment while the motorcycle was damaged.  San Ignacio police have charged Nicholas with driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without due care and attention and harm.
