Where were the visas issued for the 32 Japanese or was it Chinese?

The three planes with thirty-two passengers that landed after closing hours at the Philip Goldson International Airport from Haiti and other Caribbean countries are the subject of a major investigation by the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Police Department and the Ministry of National Security. Missing forms, public officers rotated off their shifts and duplication of documents showing no passengers in one instance and in another showing a list of passengers for the same flight are all ingredients of a major scandal. There are many inconsistencies that gives the appearance of a well orchestrated international Human Smuggling Ring.  Although one document produced at the airport says the passengers were Japanese, does anyone know for sure? And where are these alleged Japanese tourists who came in the night? That’s what News Five asked the C.E.O. in the Ministry of National Security this evening.

Allen Whylie, CEO, Ministry of National Security (via phone)

“What the press release said in terms of the arrival records, the information entered were that these persons were Japanese nationals. Obviously we’ve not seen the persons, we have not seen the passport to confirm if they are Japanese nationals and we haven’t seen any visas for Japanese nationals or at least these persons. So I cannot confirm if indeed these persons were Japanese nationals. But based on what was presented by immigration officials to the investigative team that is what was documented.”

Jose Sanchez

“But there was some information that showed that there was a date of issuance, but no place of issuance of the visas. So, where did that come from?”

Allen Whylie

“Those were written on the arrival records of the immigration officers.”

Jose Sanchez

“At this point is there any indication where these visas could have come from? Could it have been from the embassy in Tokyo, Japan? Could it have been even from Cuba since Cuba has been the route that most of these or at least of illegal Asians travelling to the U.S. have come from Belize then to the U.S.?”

Allen Whylie

“No indication if visas were issued by any of these places. Part of what the investigation will tell will be to liaise with foreign affairs to send the relevant information that we have from the arrival records to our embassies for their confirmation. And also we will find through foreign affairs with the Japanese to confirm whether or not any such pass were issued in any of those names.”

Jose Sanchez

“At this point have you found any Japanese? Did they leave the country? Is there a record at the border?”

Allen Whylie

“I personally am not aware of any as I said, the investigation is ongoing and the investigative team is out doing the investigation. But me personally I haven’t seen or heard of any records showing that they have left the country.”

Jose Sanchez

“Have you contacted the Japanese Counsel in Belize?”

Allen Whylie

“Well I haven’t. I don’t believe, I am not certain if the investigative team had done so, but…”

Jose Sanchez

“I spoke to the Counsel, Mister Sadarandgani and he was totally unaware of the situation. Japanese people don’t need visas to get to the U.S. and they don’t need to go around Caribbean Islands, through Haiti, etc. to even reach that route. So it does still have the appearance of a ring wouldn’t you say? A trafficking ring?”

Allen Whylie

“Well, I can’t say because then I would be prejudicing the investigation. All I can comment on is what has been seen, the documents presented and how the investigation is progressing.”

Jose Sanchez

“Were there also documents that were forged? I believe there were duplicates of documents saying no passengers and then another document saying there were passengers on at least one flight?

Allen Whylie

“Yes. There was that issue. As I said, the press release spoke about procedural errors.”

According to what we have been able to determine, the passengers only carried Japanese passports, which quite possibly were not legit. We also know that the names in the passports were Chinese and that visas did not have a place of issue which in itself should have sounded alarms, but did not when the passengers were whisked through the airport. What we have also learnt is that the names of persons who arrived on the most recent flight on Sunday night at seven o’clock, do not appear anywhere on the official list of visa approvals. So where were the visas issued and by whom?

Apparently, anyone form anywhere at anytime in any form can land in Belize. The present problem that we are facing is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS; then it will be DRUG SMUGGLERS, and eventually TERRORIST with weapons, that will use our airspace and airport as route.

Questions that need to be answered from the time of departure to arrival to Belize are:

    1) Where were the visas issued? By whom?

    2) Who charted the airplane? Can’t we contact Haiti to get this info?

    3) The airplane had to get authorization to cross the various airspace?

    4) Who at the PGIA is responsible for the flight schedules? Isn’t that very suspicious to have airplanes landing at night there?

    5) Who is responsible to monitor the airspace of Belize?

    6) Don’t the plane has to make contact with the traffic controller at the PGIA before landing? who was there at the time?

    7) Who received them? (immigration + customs officers)

    8) Why didn’t the custom officials got alarmed when they noticed that there was no issuance place in the visas?

    9) Which officer signed the forms and entered the data of the “tourist” in the computer?

    10) Don’t the airport have cameras?

Belizeans should not be satisfied with simple updates or cover up; but be satisfied until there are conviction of the persons that received and allow the illegal immigrants to use PGIA for illegal activities. There should certainly be convictions!!!

I kindly ask NEWS5 to pressure the GOB

Very worrying situation with “I don’t know” replies from authorities concerning the plane landings investigation going on.
Why on earth doesn’t anyone know anything!!!
Jose Sanchez sounds like an on the mark reporter by contacting the Japanese Council himself.
Can’t Air Control say from which country the planes departed as that particular country by law, would need to have clearance from The Belize air traffic control to land.
This is a major concern and I look forward to hearing more.

Why? PG—is it because it is secluded with a fewer employees in the night time? Why should a

international flight not use the right port of entry—EVERY THING ABOUT THIS IS STINK—Its

been going on for a longtime—LOOK BELIZEAN, if even the CEO of your National Security

department starts to brain fart on these issues and easy questions of yes and no—-Then why

can’t terrorist and others not go ahead and do the same thing via Belize—ITS ALL CORRUPT

and you all have sucked on each other as strange bed fellows—Funny thing is —ALL THIS

CORRUPTION can be a thing of the past…. Belize needs new people—Most Of the good Ones

have since run off due to poor management of their beloved country and in a lot of other cases—

Belizeans living abroad will tell you right off—I left because I was afraid that I MIGHT SEEK MY

OWN JUSTICES AND TURN MY RIGHT INTO WRONG—- I’m happy that the U. S Department

have voiced there opinion on this issue.

  5. rod says:

how incompetent this guy knows nothing he doesnt seem to know anything about anything and he is the head of national security wow wow wow we are surely in trouble when the head of national security knows less than the media where has he been in a cave or just sleeping on the job he needs to be fired also useless.

  6. rootsman says:

Sounds like a lot of smoke screen, I am sure flights does not randomly land at the airport there has got to be an approval process for that to happen, so why don’t we just back track on this request to land and see what the source of this corruption is? I am sure you will find one dirty politicians or more involved it it all and I think that the authorities at the airport needs to start speaking up since obviously they are withholding information.

  7. Elgin Martinez says:

CEO Ministry of National Security havn’t made contact with these people. What a shame. You should have been the first person to get to the airport prior to the landing of the aircrafts.

  8. karol says:

this is what happens when people are kept in their job for so long, they make money on top of their pay!everything has already been planned thats y nobody wants to say where the missing documents are.

Belize government personnel are all CROOKS, JUST WANT TO LINE THEIR POCKET. WHAT A SHAME, SAME ON YOU BELIZE POLICE AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.

  12. Mr Perez says:

What’s wrong with Belizean can’t they see this is a big cover-up by the authorities. The U.S’ CIA and FBI have always condoned these sorts of smoke screen behavior. Belize doesn’t have to this and hence raises a lot of suspicion.
The authorities will try to put it off until the people forget or don’t care enough to persue the so-call investigation.

Don’t be surprised people it isn’t the first time something like this has happened and trust me it won’t be the last.

  13. Manford says:

Hello folks, settle down, we’ve been lied to from the get go. About what you may ask? So call independence. If we have independence why are we waiting for the referrandum in Guatemala and subsequently the World Court to rule if the country is really a Sovereign Independent Nation? They lied to us for years, telling us that no crude oil was in Belize, when they knew from 1972 that oil was found in the very same spot where it is coming from now . How about the big phosphate mine down south, do you know anything about it? Find out who own it, you’ll be surprise.

We take so much for granted due to lact of knowledge in many area of global power play. Find out what happen to many Presidents of our neighbours who refused to towe the line when given the orders. A million dollars for the middle of a donut that our government is in a high stake international game and they are confronted with a request that no is not the answer. They have to take the heat as pay back for past or future favour(s). Many folks may end up been the fall guy in this episode, just to give the appearance that govrnment is serious. Its nothing more than smoke screen. Finally folks, thousands of individuals supported by various governments travels on fake passport daily, so don’t let this incident cause you to lose sleep. King Sparrow will say, its all in the game.

  14. AN EX bELIZEAN says:

THIS WHY BELIZE WILL ALWAYS BE A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY,MAYBE IT SHOULD BE THE FIRST 4TH WORLD COUNTRY. THIS IS WHY BELIZE IS PLAQUE WITH CRIME , 90% OF ELECTED OFFICIALS JUST WANT MONEY IN THERE POCKETS, I’M SO HAPPY I’M OUT OF THAT SHIT HOLE OF A COUNTRY, I ACCIDENTALLY STUMBLE ON THIS WEBSITE, BELIZE WAS A …. HOLE 30 YRS AGO WHEN I LEFT AND SWEAR NEVER TO GO BACK TO AND I SEE 30 YRS LATER ITS STILL THE SAME ….. HOLE WITH DIFFERENT IDIOTS RUNNING THE COUNTRY…….. GUATEMALA NEEDS TO INTERVENE AND LET THE WHOLE PLACE BE UNITED UNDER THE GUATEMALAN GOVERNMENT, THAT’S THE ONLY WAY THE COUNTRY WILL PROSPER. FOR ALL YOU BELIZEAN’S WHO CHOSE TO STAY, KEEP SINKING IN ….., THE COUNTRY IS NECK DEEP ALREADY………………….

  15. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

BELIZE have come a long way—thanks to the original British presence and the Incomplete/

complete Independence but–Guatemala cannot come in and do as it pleases but if they do- it

will be the people who owns and who are in power whose heads will roll (besides thats

unacceptable under international law and will be met with FORCE)—I got a new Belize

Passport and it can be seen as a sister/brother country to the real CARIBBEAN NATIONS like

Jamaica–Grenada–St. Vincent etc—ISLANDS—-Belize is not an island just that it sits on the

coast of the beautiful Caribbean Sea which was once the challenge for my ancestors or would

have been there doom—-GARIFUNA–former BLACK CARIBS—-made it to the coast and have

been living as far as South America and up along the coast along BELIZE— Yes it is rich and

yes it has a lot of unfinished claim form to sign and burn or place into archives—It also has alot

of CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES THAT NEEDS TO BE THROWN

INTO BELIZEAN PRISONS—–Never let the Guatemalans think even for a second that this is

there business—THERE BUSINESS IS FOR THERE COUNTRY AND THERE PEOPLE—

BELIZE WILL FIX ITSELF after a fast change of government (please not the usual replacement)

similiarly to the invisible hand that controls the business market—— And that more

Responsible Management that I have been dreaming about.

    Hello All,

    Manford is right…
There is so much going on that we simply do not know about. There is Gobalization….One World Alliance/Government….etc. etc. I can go on and on. In any event…..Governments have to TOW THE LINE….or ELSE. Belize is owned by the IMF…The World Bank etc. etc. again I can go on and on. We are small and we have to be small players or ELSE….. This is World Politics at work. Like Monford said……..”Don’t lose sleep over it” …..as this is only the beginning of the way things are going to be run in the future world REFORMATION….

GET A BIGGER WORLD VIEW DUMMY!!!!!!

  19. BZNpeace says:

I wish the British would take us back! Just look how prosperous the currrent British Overseas Territories are. The people who govern Belize not only have no idea what they are doing, they don’t care about anything except getting rich and making themselves above the law. There is no real accountability in Belize. Government officials feel that they can do whatever they want. In the UK, Cabinet Ministers are forced to resign when they don’t do their jobs. Not so in Belize. Cabinet Ministers think that they are gods. Believe me… it will only get worse.

  20. Belizean Kourage says:

CEO of our National Security is a disgrace.. Belize will never change, the public sector is engulfed with incompetent people.

THIS STORY DA …..——-BIG MAN IN BIG PLACE DO THIS …….EVEN THE POICE IN ON THIS, NOTHING WILL COME OUT OF THIS, GIVE IT A COUPLE DAYS.

  22. BZNinCALI says:

Things do not blow over in Belize because of short memories, Belizeans are frustrated & do not feel that they have any recourse because our elected officials have a history of never answering questions & we continue to replace one greedy idiot with another.

Second, the Japanese passengers can have Chinese names. The Chinese, Korean. Filipinos & other Asian groups have their own history with Japan that would cause the rest of us to scratch our heads. The problem is that we have no idea who any of these people really are & we need to know if this is now the convenient jump off place for people who may be up to no good.

Maybe the GOB had an offer it could not refuse but our history suggests otherwise. There is no good reason for 32 passengers to come in under the cover of darkness & regardless of how backwards we may appear to be, they obviously had permission to land because in any other sovereign country, they would have been taken to jail until or at least detained until there was some form of resolution.

Manford mentioned minerals in the south, someone should explain to the people who live along the rivers in the Belize district what is being mined that is rendering the water in some communities undrinkable.

  23. andrew says:

mmm..seems.. like the CEO..is” i dont know., i am not certain.” who is he.. chief of natiional security or chief of national corruption.. geez.. maybe he is involve too.. if he does not know .. then we ought to find a new ceo for natianal security.. either he is too lazy to be the CEO or he is involved.
our country is way down to lock of security .. we need new leaders..
if these illegal entries could happen and pass right under the nose of mr. not certain.. geez.. our country will be the main hiding spot for terrorist.. think about it guys..
    ..

  24. rootsman says:

For those of you who don’t know PG international airport is (Phillip Goldson international airport) and is the main airport in the Belize district and does not stand for Punta Gorda and is not in Punta Gorda, Toledo District

  25. Mike "Red Bul Gives You Wings" Song says:

I know who all are involved. i can sing it all day long but no one will prosecute. Did the Immigrations Officer sung? Did the customs Officer sang? The guilty is always in the present.

    Sincerely, Mike Canta that song

  26. Not his fault says:

Don’t blame the CEO of National Security. He can’t be blamed for wanting to keep his job. How can he investigate the government or even a brother of a government minister in this investigation? He could lose his job. I agree with red bull. i get what you are saying, or singing. Lol.

  27. Proud says:

Whylie is no doubt a nincompoop….he knows not the difference between his elbow and his ars…WHYLIE, MIN PERDOMO AND DIRECTOR OF IMMIGRATION SHOULD STEP DOWN. PM do your job….or you may have to step down too.

  28. breezy says:

FIRE Whylie! He’s so busy trying to explain the coverup that he sounds like a FOOL. We have all know for a very long time that Belize’s passport is for sale. Anyone who’s not black can enter for
free. These fools might not even have gotten paid because the chump change they got for doing this is not what I consider as getting PAID. Immigration officers have been getting over for a long time. Just ask the ones who board ships. I know one who was getting paid (small change) to sell us out. This will al blow over and it will be back to business as usual.

  29. carlos says:

I am surprise our government is not doing enough to eliminate corruption. How can these people at the international airport allow these things to happen. The government should set a commission to investigate this scandal and please the minister himself should not be involved as it was said before. this only show the level of corruption. When have you seen that a minister is involved in the investigation. This shows that something fishy is taking place. I think that the USA government should do more .
Ask the CIA or the FBI to come and investigate since at last they may be the once being affected.
Belizeans stand up do not allow this thing to happen.
Then government keep up to your promise of NO corruption. I put you there to do the job better , so do it . If the minister is involved and other immigration officer get rid of them , jail them so that other people learn and do not do the same thing again. The security of our beloved country should be a priority. Thanks

  30. Earl Grey says:

  31. Bel Can says:

How can these people be in power? This lack of knowledge and accountability is sickening and makes me furious as a Belizean. These jackasses are skilled at giving people the run around but not in actually running a government. What will become of Belize?

  32. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

ROOTSMAN–Please school me and a lot of other people who don’t know too much about

Belize—Some of us have left a long time ago and still envision Belize as a place that do not

have too much example, very bad roads, unlighted streets, bunch of barefooted people–etc– I

would like to know who is PG (Phillip Goldson)—What is his legacy to Belize–Please don’t tell

me that they named an airport after him as an answer- how many government controlled port of

entries are in the country–and if you don’t mind in less than twenty words hook a brother up on

information in regards to the positive growth statistic, lets say the past 10 yrs—give us some

census info as well—just perhaps—we can obtain a clearance and modify some information

that is readily available about Belize via cia.gov—Anyways dude I can see you doing WHYLIE’s

job and getting the ball rolling for Belize and we can enjoy a delicious latte outside on the porch

at a future cafe on the corner George and Dean street…

I will say this much, that a lot of the hanky panky and shady goings on with regard to Belize’s soverignty would not have proceeded unchallenged and unchecked were Mr. Goldson alive.
But, by way of suggestion, you need to make it your business and take a trip back home to the Jewel.

There are so many choices on the market, it really is critical for any expert to know what is greatestfor his or her situation and specific building. The remarks you’re supplying remain a wonderful assist to businesses and security experts as well. Thanks once more!
