Who will win $10,000 on Duets?
At the Bliss Auditorium tonight, only three duos will compete in the final round of competition in Duets. Who will that be? The auditors have tabulated the results and the last three couples will be appearing on stage when the curtains are drawn. We have seen them through numerous rounds but tonight is their final performance to impress to viewing public and the panel of judges to determine who will be the top duo in this season. With the thousands of dollars in cash and a long list of prizes within reach, the duos will bring their A game to the stage. It’s do or die and here’s a snippet of what you can expect…

I watched two episodes of duets earlier when it started, I came home from work last night, fired up my computer and watched the belize news and then duets.
to my surprise, the brother and sister from benque is still in the competition lol, the guy has some talent but the girl, my god, she is horrible, and the judges gave her props on the first two earlier shows that I watched. Dude the first time this chick open her mouth to sing was painful for me to listen to.
Now I know its text voting and the texting co. might be one of your main sponser, but I suggest you change the way the contestants get jugded. Some of these contestants do need that money and to be cheated out by text voting just ain’t fair.
last night i started to watch the show but seeing that the benque duet was still on even they had disadvantages compared to the orange walk duets made me change the channel and watch the miners rescue. it really pissed me off since we should vote for talent not the popularity. to me the best for 1st would be the shaggy group, secondly between pungabi or bamboo land duets but benque jeez the girl throw off the borther completely from the show. but sadly that’s the verdict they’re still on. please people vote for talent not for popularity even do we want everyone to win but it’s the best of the best that suppose to win. i won’t watch it more till next season. my congrats to the shaggy group if you guys win the 10K.
I didn’t like the way the judges carried out themselves lastnite. I believe they were there to give criticism and remain nuetral and have show no favoritism, only as the public should decide who the winner will be. The judges did wrong. I also agree the Benque group..well the girl doesn’t have talent ok….the Camalote group….wasn’t really hype either and i don’t believe they deserve the 10K… they believe they are all that ….when they are not… all they sing bout is about the judges this the judges that…..pewwwhhhh…sing betta than that nuh…… i believe that the group from Bamboo land should win. They gave more effort, etc….
I can see all your points Reuben, Belizean Pride and Jade. The girl from the benque group has no talent or voice what so ever, however the brother has a some skills but above all confidence.
The Shaggy Group? Come on…. It’s suppose to be based on Talent and not Imitation. They might be good imitators but nothing beats originality.
Ohhhh…. and the Judges hmmm… where to begin? Duets Producer…Next time get some real judges that know what talent is or at least know what they are talking about.

Let me speak on what happened on behalf of everyone last night and previous shows. I’m one of the contestants from the Brother and sister team. To begin I will like to say that Who ever will be the winner will be accepted by me. I do not care if I come out 3rd(like the judges placed us last night before voting even started) or 2nd because you must place yourselves in our position for a minute.
Replay all the previous shows we are always the ones who get humiliated neither understanding the value of being humane or being truthful or even being BELIZEANS, I spoke on Open Up Your Eyes this morning and I discussed this matter (in a humble manner).
Now lets be realistic my sister has had a great time participating with me and I know you might say she has no talent and what-not, (maybe you have seen only the show that she made a mistake) by the way who recalls “Empire State Of Mind Remix (Belize, Belize)” We did a phenomenal job or “Sunshine” our first blast up into the sky. it seems that favoritism entered the equation last night, so no matter what we do or how great is our performance, the judges will dislike us but yet we pray for them to change their hearts and become better =) because they do not know that they are destroying Duets (A family show) =( into a riot of races. Why do we call ourselves “A melting pot” of cultures if we are favoring one side?

Let me begin by saying that I don’t belief its racism or something like that what transpired last night was totally unprofessionalism on part of the judges. I do agree on the comments and i do understand the comments from the judges there critics were totally true. Luis you and your sis did a good job but not an excellent jot so there is no way you could win and like how your sis said its all up to the votes so what the judges say should not make you feel no way since thats what your sis said do you recall? so all the judges did was to answer you the same way she answer them for saying the truth. I must say that i am from corozal and i am hispanic and i was with you guys all the way but when your sis answered the judges by saying its up to the vote i decided not to vote for you guys nor for no one else cause she should admit she did mistakes i am no professional in music but just listening to her sweet voice you could hear when she did mistakes. So what really happen is a get back to uno its noting like racist or something like that and it was totally unprofessional on the judges part.

Hey Luis, I do not live in Belize so I did not see last night show, I watch it on the net, but dude mien your sister can’t sing, you on the other hand has talent.
If you entered that competition with one of the Wagner sisters, I think you would have blew the competition away, and you are right on the Camalote boys, Patrick and Ava should win and here agian without Patrick Ava can’t cut mustard to me.

Luis when u put yourself in the ring in any competion be prepared for whatever! its call competition…criticisms are meant to make u stronger not to break the worst kind of ppl in this world are those who live in denial. I am from Camalote and what the judges did for me was totally unexpected, i didnt expect that and in a way i felt bad for the other contestants but hey, its thier choice….when it comes down to the nitty-gritty of the thing we must understand that its the young people that are calling the shots in this country wheather we like it or not, they are the ones who will take the time to vote and thats a fact. I support ERlyin and Jeremy not just for them but for all young talented Belizean who i beleive they represent. Every young artist who sit there night after night looking on, inspired and saying hell yeah I can do that too…this is bigger than Earlyn and Jeremy and that is what makes them big…..so Mendez yeah I liked ur empire state building remix…. but this is the shizzz that dreams were made up!!!!!!! Real dreams!!!!
i also do think that for the next duets please channel 5 but at leat a well known singer that knows about notes and tunes, also a dance teacher who know about this and a choreographer that will see thing flow as it should be and not put people that think they can judge duets. we need reall judges not to play favouritism or racist but to help the competitors to upgrade their acts or whatever they do, but as last night it sound like this judges really went unproffesional i don’t blame them they aren’t, they are wannabees. so pleasechannel 5 keep this in mind for the next show and remember it’s a family show that bring the family to the living room to see our belizean talents not to kill the show like last night. i never watch the show after all only the eva and patrick one, sadly it’s getting dissapointing as how this show is ending with issues like this, and as for luis, my respect to you bro never intent to low you but really you got talent your sis needs more practice and singing lesson but she can better it, nice try anyways. and for the rest continue what you feel you are apt to, adelante con todas las ganas mi gente belicenia. oh, not forgetting to please call the attention of william neal that this show is not a place to embarras people onlive tv nor to make people in the show a joke. he needs to act more proffesional as to what he doing in the show, sometime he really goes beyond the level of joke to either judges or the competitors. aint i right people?
Last Night Those Judges NEVER Had Class! They Need To Be Professional Judges And Not Announced B.S. On Live Television! + You People Exaggerate when it comes to how the girl from benque sings! She’s sounds horrible?! Please! act ur age and She’s not a professional singer sooo screw the haters!
Well im the producer for jeremy and earlin. When it comes to music i have been doing this from a young age and playing 8 instruments by the time i was 13 years old. Music is my life this is ALL i do. Now for those who say immitating shaggy is NOT original really dont know what thier talking about. Can you do the exact same shaggy voice?? NO! It takes skill and the only reason we are doing it on the show is for the fans. When we are in the studio working on our regular material he never uses that voice. We only use it for the show. Now we always come original. Beats are made from scratch, lyrics, ideas, so what part of that is NOT original? Belize has never heard hip hop/rap etc the way we are making it. This is the tip of the iceberg for us. Our crew is deep and im surrounded by talented individuals that can really sing, really rap, and freestyle off the top of the head at any given moment.
Now what we are supporting is raw talent. Patrick and Ava HAVE raw talent. So if the would win that would be a good thing for Belize. But the bro and sister duo are young in their career and still have a lot of development ahead. With the right training Lucille can become a very good singer. She has the potential! And likewise with experience Luis can become better. He has great diction in rapping but the delivery can be better at times.
Duets should be the GRAND stage. So leave the practicing at home and bring out the seasoned actors, singers and dancers. Im not knocking anybody’s talent just saying that from my years of experience I know str8 up seasoned from amateur individuals.
So everyone should vote for who they think deserve it. And next year i hope that the judges can weigh in on the final results because this is not a competition anymore. Its about who got the dough to spend.
Like it or not we WILL be the face of rap in Belize. We are ready and nobody can doubt our talent.

At the end of the day Smart will be laughing all the way to the bank and the deserving contestants and us the viewers might be disappointed!!! I understand the sponsorship issue and all but they gotta come up with a better way to choose the winners that is fair. This will only discourage future contestants and viewers.
I’ve said this over and over again and I’ll say it AGAIN…Luis Mendez is talented and has stage presence…a lil work on original lyrics and he’ll be unstoppable…the problem with the sister was not only that she can’t sing but the attitude was off…I’m sorry mein but if you put yourself out there then be ready for criticism…constructive or not…that’s just how it goes. In the end to grow as a person/artist, learn to consider the source of the criticism, internalize what they are saying and just say THANK YOU…and if you can’t do that then stay home and sing in the shower!!!
The judges were there to give their honest opinions and expertise and as far as I’m concerned…I agreed with Jenny and Santi most of the time…they KNOW that they are talking about. Ann is just for entertainment and criticism went all across the board to everyone…the difference is the Humility and the determination of the duos…most took it and bettered themselves.

AND…I hate when people play the race card…this is NOT about race…it’s about that very attitude of blaming everything else and everyone else but yourselves. I watched every show and the girl was consistently off!!!
One more thing I’d like to add is that all the UNNECESSARY attention given to “HAWTI” has turned sour…it’s NOT funny nor cute for anyone to be acting that way at a family show!!!!

@ Luis, I thought you guys were cute and stuff right up until your sister, instead of humbly accepting contructive criticism, gave the judges a slap in their face. While it was very unprofessional how they handled the matter…..you cant blame them for how they acted. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!!
@The Man….come on man, give props where props due! The guys from Camalote were original throughout the entire season. All their music was original lyrics and they only did a couple imitations for entertainment purposes. They saw how much the audience ate it up. While Ava and Patrick were consistent, I honestly dont think that they beat out those guys!
My humble opinion is that people are getting emotional when they charge racism from the judges. I saw the same alleged racist judge give high props to the white couple who was on duets; not sure if they were white but they looked white. If someone is going to be racist to hispanics wouldnt they also be racist to whites. There has been latent racism in Belize but sorry to burst your bubble, Hispanics have hardly ever been the target.
If you all have watched the other duets, the judges always have a favourite and they have never been shy about it at the end. I can remember cleary when Anne Marie wanted Mr. Stamp and his wife and Ms Lovell wanted Ms Marin and her partner. The judges can say who they think should win but you vote for who you think should win.
Duets this year had in some awesome talents, a pair of actors and dancers that dropped out way too early and I dont see those duos grumbling anywhere. They understand that although they had outstanding talent, for whatever reason other duos got more votes.
I think if they continue the show it would be a good idea to diversify the judges, since Ms Lovell and Mr Cas are singers and Anne is a dramatist. They need a judge with a good knowledge of dancing so they can comment adequately on the dancing. The duo from OW was very entertaining and fun but they are not exceptional dancers. So all in all, I think this season of duets ended on a bad note for several reasons and one being that it seems that some duos stayed on because they had more money to spend on texting and I think that sucks. For me either the Camalote guys or the actors should win but its up to the public. I think the guy from Benque is outstanding too but his sis has a long way to go. I think they appeared to be jeering and laughing with someone who was yelling out things in the audience last nite and that didnt look good for them either. The audience behaved badly too yelling things out. It is the first time that I have been watching duets that I have seen that kind of ‘halari’ behaviour. Hope those people who did that stay home next week. The show has its faults but all in all it is a good thing and we have to be careful that egos dont smash it up. EVERYBODY CANNOT WIN!!
Come on people. We have to remember that our judges are well qualified people who know what music is. We do not know what people are doing music wise. I think that the judges have a right to make their opinion as to who they think are excellent. I guess a lot of people dont watch American Idol. These people are told much harsher things and thats because they are on International TV. The judges were not racist by any means. The brother and sister crew know well that they were no good. The guy is excellent, but mein the girl, she just cannot sing. She is an embarrassment to her brother. They should have been eliminated a long time ago. Everbody knows that they are still in becuase they have money and have paid people to vote for them or invest a lot of money to vote. That is why Lucille can be so disrespectful to the judge. She knows that money has them there. She is too pretty to have such a nasty character. Its sad cause she is really making her brother look really bad when he has great talent. You are fit for a beauty queen honey not for music. Leave your brother let him shine and stop pusing yourself with him. He will always outshine you and you will always look bad when you try to sing with him. Be glad for the people who will win and who really deserve it. My vote will be for the team from Sittee or the Shaggy group. I am a hispanic and by no means think that the judges were racist. I do feel though that some of the audience were really disrespectful and rude. This is a family show and they made it look really. I sincerely feel that Ms Hortense should be removed from the spot light. She was so disrespectful and mean. My goodness some of the people from Cayo were so rude. I was there and the stuff coming from there mouth was so horrible. Common people we have a lot of people with great talent and an incident like this will discourage them from trying out and participating in these events. I think its unfair if you know and cant accept that there are people are much better than them. Common Belize make the right choice and vote for either number 1 or 3. Make the right choice and dont let money pravail over fairness.
In my opinion, there was nothing wrong with the way the show turned out last night. The judges ALWAYS have their say, why Is it now that when they do say who their favorites are everyone begins to “ketch feelings”? C’mon now when they were loving Benque’s so called “Angelic Voice”, no one was complaining. Little sunshine said it right its not up to the judges it’s the votes. So why get mad when the judges aint got nuttin to say about ya’ll performance? Ugh! Don’t get me started! You didn’t even seem like you wanted the money with that performance last night. Needed to really step it up, like Jem C & Dwayne! OMGee! They KILLED it, murdered it… Its dead and gone!!!
I loved and have loved Patrick and Ava from the start… if Jem n Dwayne don’t win I really hope that they do. But if the bro n sis act wins I know its not going to be because of true talent, its going to be who’s “more popular”. They aint got no real talent. There’s nothing racial going on. I agree with most that the judges have been partial, but it’s not on the basis of race. Luis, you are a handsome and talented young man. You deliver words very well, and I believe if you started writing your own material, you would be something special. However, this is DUETS, and your sister’s singing ability leaves a lot to be desired. As a duet, you do not deserve to win the prize, simply because your sister is not as talented as you, and she cannot rest on your abilities to win the competition. I never discourage people from pursuing their dreams, but your sister needs to work harder if you guys expect to be an act that is worth money. I was a performer for many years, so I can tell you that you cannot afford to not be the best at any time. A – you will meet difficulties from people judging you always. B – it is always an intense competition. People will always be younger, better, stronger, and you need to constantly be able to remind people while you are special. Continue working, and working hard.

Wow, I’ve never believe a good family entertainment would have come to this. Was so disappointed in last night’s show- just like last years. I’m not talking about the competitors. …………….. First of all the judges MUST go. They are very unprofessional, bias and have no experience in Drama, Music or choreography. Come on mien if we want a good quality show , Channel 5 should do their best. What’s the use of having judges if they have no say in the actual outcome of the results? ………………

The people on here who are insulting the judges and being downright rude to others are not making their duo that they support look any better. I applaud the way the gentleman that says he is Jeremy and Erlin’s producer spoke well of the other contestants and all the othe bloggers who said their piece without being rude. We will not achieve anything by throwing insults at the judges. We have to learn to take constructive criticism and make ourselves better; as I said before the judges have always said who their faves were in duets, esp Ann Marie. So why is is such a problem this time around? I think Luis and Lucille should feel fortunate and blessed that they were able to stay in duets this long because anyone with an objective eye knows that there were other duos way better in this competition but obviously they have the backing and for that they should be grateful. I see none of the other exceptional duos who were voted off come on this website and insult anyone. You have to learn to be gracious at all times esp if you will be an entertainer. I dont think Belizeans are like Americans yet in the sense that we still expect our artists to behave themselves. we dont glorify bad behaviour. I think that all the insults towards others are only hurting Luis and Lucille’s image and the sad part is they are not the ones making them. I really hope everyone is gracious next week whether they win or lose and I hope that audience behaves. First time I have seen such terrible behaviour and it was last night! I think they should have security ready to take out anyone who is cursing as I think that sounds so bad esp for a show that the entire nation and the world can see on the net.

I am hoping that whatever show takes over that there be different people picked as judges because those that are Presently on are making this Family Show the worst ever. They are RACIST MEIN. This is truly ridiculous indeed now. The judges are racist, the judges are racist. What irony cause Mr Santi is latino too, so Mr. Castillo is racist against them in what way, because they are latino like he is or cause their skin a littte darker. That racist notion is so stupid and people need to remember that in our country’s history, latino people have hardly ever been at the tail end of racism and we all know this. All this nonsense because most of Belize believe that they young man from Bengue is a good rapper but his sis has a loooong way to go, plain and simple. Maybe even the judges were annoyed that they stayed in that long plus had an attitude with it. I wish the Mendez’ would get off that racism thing and accept that the sister really isn’t at the level with the other competitors. That would be the first step into the right direction for them, after that she can do her voice training as they seem to have the means. We are all Belizeans and the majority of us live and love across cultural lines so to us the notion of our judges being racist is just downright absurd. We in Belize are all mixed-up and most of us love it that way. THose of you trying to make us out as hating across cultural lines, I woudlnt even say racial lines cause almost all Belizeans are brown(different degrees) in colour, those trying to do that, please drop it. The majority of the population doesnt buy into that. The judges panel need to be diversified I agree, maybe a qualified dancer and an actress but I think this panel of judges did the best they could. I reiterate the bottom line is people really do not believe that the duo from Benque should have stayed in the competition so long. Their fans are angry to hear this but this seems to be what the majority thinks. I suggest that channel five be ready to put out anyone who goes to the Bliss with attitude cursing on Tuesday. THose people doing that make the duo they are supporting look low down. Please let the show end on a good note. Everybody should be gracious whether they win or come in second or third!
