Immigration Officers arrested for Chinese smuggling flights

Four of six persons detained, have been charged at an unusually late court appearance. More on that later, but at a press conference at the Raccoon Street Police Station, the Minister of Police along with the Minister of Defense and Immigration laid out a series of plans to tighten security at the airport.  It was revealed that no one knows for sure the identity of the passengers and Dough Singh said he believed they were Chinese Nationals. But to confirm the suspicion, his ministry has sent a letter to the Japanese Embassy to verify if the passports were fraudulent.  The investigation so far has included interviews with thirty individuals from Civil Aviation, the Customs Department and the Immigration Department.  And it seems that six immigration officers will be charged for forgery and aiding and facilitating a commission of an offense.

Doug Singh, Minister of Police

“There are 2 charges we are placing on these individuals—one of them is for the violation of the immigration act and that is; purposefully aiding and facilitating the commission of an offense under the immigration fact. And that certainly is in reference to their facilitating the individuals with respect to the documentation and the signing of these forms. The second is under the criminal code and that is forgery of an official document. Those are the two charges that will be laid with respect to all thirty-three cases on six immigration officers.”

Carlos Perdomo

Carlos Perdomo, Minister of Immigration and Defense

“The people are Martin Guy, who is an Immigration Officer 1; which is just below the senior immigration officer. Michael Tench, Immigration Officer 2; Jason Daly, Lindsay Wade, Angelica Lima and Sandra Cole Wade. So those are the six people. Unfortunately they are immigration people.”

Doug Singh

“Our investigation revealed though that the information that was put on the arrival record by the immigration officers may have been falsified. In the cases where visa numbers were listed on these arrival numbers. In many cases the visa numbers were consecutive. And the visa numbers that were listed in all cases for all thirty-three passengers that arrive on all three flights, those original visas exist in the vault at the immigration department which means that the number had never been issued to anyone.  I have one of those forms with us just to give you an idea of what it looks like—it’s a sticker with some  protection feature which if erased it actually goes away, it has the signature of the officer. And this is taken off and put in the passport. All thirty-three of these  that were listed on these arrival records exist in the vault and this is one of those numbers. Furthermore, two of the immigration officers indicated that they assisted the nationals to complete the forms because they couldn’t speak in English. Which means that the information on the forms, we believe, all of those forms were completed by immigration officers when they landed. There are bit of missing information on them such as address where the people reside in their home country and what they should put on the arrival record was the country where the visa was issued. In fact they didn’t include that but that probably was self evident the visas were never issued.  We believe that there were some collusion among the immigration officers to put numbers on there that did not exist and to assist these people through the process of clearing immigration. We also believe that the passports that they carried, the quote-unquote “Japanese Passports may actually be counterfeit or fraudulent documents.”

How much were these idiots paid for their souls?

Never mind they have neither souls or common sense & we need their pictures.

  2. BZNinCALI says:

If these individuals did not speak English, which Customs Officer translated & in what language did he/she communicate?

INTELLIGENCE AGENCY is obtaining the evidence to proceed —–AMERICAN STYLE—

Everyone’s excriment smells but some believe that they can make it better by the application of

incense and perfume—CASE IN POINT—lets bury these guys and have this thing blow away—

BUSINESS is not profitable if BELIZEANS and the world at large is on our tracks—-THESE

  4. Magician says:

Congrats on the arrest of corrupted immigration officials. However, lets not forget to arrest the Belizean “Chineys” involved in this crime. What crime? The intent to house, feed and assist illegals and the hush monies to officials.

Sit back and enjoy the show. Watch the arrestees cut a deal and commence spilling the real story. “Chiney” lovers don’t be surprise when the truth is exposed.

  5. cynth says:

i really can’t believe that every time some thing like this happens it is only the ones at the lower level that get charged!! Come on lets get serious some persons in very high ranking positions are involved in this smuggling ring they could not have done it on there own! What if they were used as scapegoats? Look at what will happen the investigation will end right there these officers will be charged and that is it end of story! Why does the investigation not go in depth way up to the higher ranks. Once some people get charged that is it end of case there is nothing else to talk about! Our investigating officers either suck at there job, they are not left do there job or are being paid also.

  6. ketcher says:

Congrats Minister Perdomo, you hit the jackpot. You should share the money with the poor people of this country.

  7. Skywalker says:

@Magician. Are you serious? I predicted this when this story first broke. People will develop racist attitudes against the Chinese community and immigration officers instead of focusing on the real problem. Those visas didn’t appear out of the air. The flight wasn’t organized by magic. BELIZEANS… just use common sense. There is accountability at all levels, but we won’t ever fix the problem unless we expose and get rid of whoever is running this whole thing. Where Belizean crime is concerned, politicians play like Jenga. They try to remove all the ‘middle men,” the unimportant pieces, but eventually the whole thing topples down no matter how strategic you think you are. Dean Barrow, Doug Singh, I hope you are listening.

  8. el alcalde says:

Hon. Carlos Perdomo, Minister of Defence kindly send a Boquay of flowers and special gifts for all your accomplices at the immigration department for what you say here:

(“A few additional notes, no charges are contemplated at this time for the customs officers – though they are being investigated. As we noted, no customs forms have been found for the passengers – and the officer who was there at the time – says the forms were misplaced or stolen. “)

  9. Proud says:

and what charges will you, Min Singh and Min Perdomo have brought against you? Belizeans, these young immigration officers followed orders…they could not have done it on their own.

  10. Proud says:

since all of you so sure of who the BIG WIG is of this orchestrated act…maybe you should convince the ones who got charged to TALK UP and spit out the names of the BIG WIGS so that everyone will be able to see who the BIG WIGS are…you all seem so sure of who the BIG WIG is…so put your money on it then….get the officers to talk….then you can talk about what you KNOW to be the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop judge and blame people just because of past events….not ALL politicians are crooks!

  11. HoHoHo says:

The Minister should be in silver bangles since he’s the one in charge …..
