Audubon Society employee wins 2008 Chevening Scholarship
A deserving Belizean has been selected to pursue graduate studies at one of the U.K.’s top universities. The British High Commission has announced that Ivis Julieta Chan has won the 2008 Chevening Scholarship and will leave next week to begin her one year Master’s degree programme in Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Leeds. Chan has been employed at the Belize Audubon Society for the past three years. The Chevening Scholarship is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and is a prestigious award granted every year. The programme provides around two thousand three hundred new scholarships each year for postgraduate studies or research at UK Institutions of Higher Education. Chevening scholars commit to return home at the conclusion of the programme.
