He killed a man with an AK47 and pleads guilty to Manslaughter
He killed a man for stealing Lobster on Turneffe Island back in 2008. When he was arrested in Sarteneja Village, he confessed to the murder and took police to recover the murder weapon, an AK47 Assault weapon which he hid on the island. Today, two years after the incident, Marcus Moh who was initially charged with murder, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. Justice Adolph Lucas deferred sentencing for October twenty-seventh when mitigation pleas will be heard on behalf of Moh. On October eleventh, 2008, Moh told police that he had no intention of killing Smith and said that he only wanted to scare the men who were stealing lobsters from the traps of his father-in-law on Turneffe Island. According to two eyewitnesses, Jason Westby and Trevor Johnson, employees of Smith, they were diving for lobster about four Miles from Turneffe, when Moh arrived on a boat and fired the fatal shot which caught Smith in the abdomen. Westby and Johnson fled and said more shots were fired in their direction but they jumped into the sea. Westby and Johnson later recovered the boat with Smith’s lifeless body.
I know this man .. believe me .. he is a good person …… he did that for self-defence.. this thieves have been stealing and threatening people with guns.. especially fishemen,,,,,, taking all their goods….. … this man should be charged less… it was self-defence…………… God will judge those people who are doing this!!!
How the hell could you not mean to kill someone when you are shooting at them with an AK47 if you wanted to scare you would have shot in the air. I don’t know but I would think that a civilian having one of those types of guns would be illegal in Belize, if so then that also would be another major offense on this guy, I think there should be no leniency in this case and the books should be thrown at him.
People trying to earn a living and no gooders come to steal? It might seem brutal but statistics have shown that the thieves usually do whatever to get what is not theirs.
Do we issue gun licences for AK47’s? Where did Marcus Moh purchase the AK47 from – Brodies? No good Bert saying he is a good man, why would he have an AK47 Assault Rifle? you do not use an Assault Rifle for self0defence
This idiot had a 7.62 caliber weapon and is saying that he had no intentions of killing Smith. From the time you pick up that weapon you had intent fool. Please give this idiot life.So is a Lobster worth more than someone’s life?
Very valid comment, Charles Green.
I agree with the lesser charge. All those Pirates deserved to die.
I cannot accept the argument that he never meant to kill that man. If u point a gun at someone n shoot, u have intentions. Bullets carry no names. If he was using it as a scare tactic, y did he continue firing at the other men in the boat after they drive off? Thieves n no gooders should b held responsible for their action yes, but so should the ones who want to play judge, jury n convictor. Where did this man get an AK 47. Obviously, he didn’t have a license to carry that gun!
i had a friend that used to set his traps in the water and when he returned his traps were raided and left upside down, where the lobsters couldn’t get in. this happened countless times, I can see why these people are fed up. I dont believe the man should of been shot in the stomach or any where else unless threatened. Well it happened and every action have a reaction. These thieves are annoying and some of them are also killers, judgement will be on someone or maybe both!
Just return the lobster and we will drop the case. One less butt pirate that is stealing from hard working Belizeans. Oh, good choice of weapon.
