Young father shot 3 times in robbery attempt in Corozal
In other crime news, two armed men accosted an employee of Corozal businessman, Kishore Kumar. They shot him three times, once in the face, once in the right shoulder and upper back. The attack happened outside the home of his employer on Fourth Avenue in Corozal Town sometime after six on Thursday evening. And while the thieves got away empty handed, the incident left both employer and employee scared but thankful. News Five’s Marion Ali travelled north to Corozal and put the story together.
The brazen attack on the home of Corozal businessman, Kishore Kumar, occurred shortly after six on Thursday evening. Two gunmen waited for twenty one year old Dioni Marin, Kumar’s employee and pounced on him as he exited a door of his house on Fourth Avenue.

“What do you feel was the reason for the attack?”
Dioni Marin
“I think they had this plan. I think their main intention was to break into my boss house to steal or do some harm to his family.”
Dioni Marin will be transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital next Tuesday to undergo a surgery to remove a bullet that is lodged in his throat. Meanwhile Corozal Police also believe that the gunmen wanted to gain access to the home of Marin’s employer.
Inspector James Moreira, Deputy O.C., Corozal Police Station
“He went to his boss residence and while about to enter he was then approached by two male persons and as a result of that a struggle ensued because they wanted to enter the building. And he refused them entry and as a result of that, when he was struggling with one, then the other person had the opportunity in order to discharge the firearm on him.”
For this twenty one year old father of a six month old son, he feels lucky to be alive.
Dioni Marin
“I think this dah wah miracle. I feel very lucky to have made it.”
Marion Ali
But you are still injured.”

Inside they found point twenty two caliber ammunition. Police have also detained the owner of the van, a barber of that town and another man who used the vehicle prior to the incident.

God was watching over this young man. He looked death square in the eye and lived to tell the story
DEATH SQUAD PLEASE MR. BARROW. No poverty causes humans to be sick ph….. like this, no reason to shoot this guy three time. These are just sick, joy-shooting young ….holes, send in a Delta Squad for people like this, no arrest – straight the the goddamn morgue. Do this for a few months and you will see a serious reduction in this senseless crimes.
What the hell is this town getting too? Corozal Police need to step up their effort in keeping this Town safe before it gets like Orange Walk or even worse Belize City.
Lets just say that belize is lawless and corruption is everywhere just more visible cause our country is so small and poor.. sadly a lot of work needs to be done drugs and violence biggest criminals actually is the government and all that goes along with it police, immigration, and ministers ….hmmmm
It is true, no Belizean is poor because they are not capable of doing better. Belizeans are poor because they are “HUEVONES.”
COROZAL, oh my Corozal… a few years ago while walking in Town, close by Ahmad store and St. Pauls Anglican school. A guy approached me demanding my cellular phone… i was being robbed. Managed to beat some sense into the guy. I ran off after that and went to the Police station. Police searched the streets until we found the guy. I requested for court action. This happened during 2006 until now, no court action has been taken against the guy.
What i want to say is that. People do not get corrupt because they need money… people get corrupt because the see money and their wants get large… big…
Police need training, Corozal needs Police men,
Or maybe a lot more projects that would help youths get busy…
