Eric Store Robbed
There was an armed holdup at around ten thirty this morning at Eric’s Store on Bachelor Avenue in Belize City. According to the owner of the business, Guo Zhu, three youths entered, armed with guns and pointed the weapons at her and demanded money. The men stole an undisclosed amount of cash and two cell phones before making their escape. So far police have no suspects but are following a few leads.
Meanwhile, in connection with last Thursday evening’s attempted robbery at the Fourth Avenue home of Corozal businessman, Kishore Kumar, police have arrested and charged a barber of Calcutta Village. Police say that a white van, owned by twenty eight-year old Donald Coleman, was believed to have been used in the attack, which left Kumar’s employee, twenty-one year old Dioni Marin with three bullets lodged in his body. Police say they picked up the vehicle in front of Coleman’s Fresh Cutz Barber Shop not far away. Coleman is charged with keeping unlicensed ammunition. Police are also looking for another suspect, who they believe was the man who shot Marin. Marin was shot as he exited Kumar’s home sometime after six as the thieves tried to enter the house, but he managed to slam the door shut before the men attacked him.
Corozal police also believe that the wanted suspect may have been the main gunman in another attack on Friday morning at Real Discount Store on Second Avenue in that town. Sometime after eleven that morning two gunmen entered the business and held up the sales clerk. They got away with her purse and two hundred dollars from the store.
