Grace Kennedy & the Belize Hospital Auxiliary create a recipe

The partnership between Grace Kennedy Belize and the Belize Hospital Auxiliary was formed in November 2009 for the production and distribution of the fifth edition of the Hospital Auxiliary’s cookbook. By the official inauguration in January, nine hundred copies of the book had been sold and by the end of August the two thousand prints were gone. In anticipation of the release of the sixth edition, Grace Kennedy was recognized on Monday for the record breaking sales, which has financed medical treatment for several patients who could not afford it. Grace Kennedy General Manager, Alberto Young, told News Five it’s the perfect marriage and Hospital Auxiliary’s President, Magda Burgos agrees.

“It’s very pleasing for us that we’re getting that award of appreciation. This was a commitment we made to the Belize Hospital Auxiliary in 2009 and it has really been rewarding to see the performance of the sales of the books. In fact, we’ve had record sales for the fifth publication and actually we ran out of cookbooks in August. We’re working on getting our sixth edition tomorrow.”

“And you also have plans to take the sales online?”

“Well, we’re working with the people who do our Grace online sales; both Amazon.com and we also have another website and they are going to be helping us hopefully before the end of the year to get our sales online. And that’s going to be the next step.”

Magda Burgos, President, Belize Hospital Auxiliary

“We wanted to show our appreciation for all the help that they’ve been giving us to raise the funds to do the work we want to do, which is to help others who are sick and who need help in any way.”

“How has this partnership helped out the hospital auxiliary?”

“It has helped us in giving us the freedom of raising funds without much work since they have taken up the distribution of the books. They also took up the setting up of the new book, our sixth edition that’s coming out tomorrow and we believe that without Grace Kennedy it would have been a long process for us to do that.”

According to Burgos, it usually takes at least a year and a half to two years to sell the cookbooks.
