Is political interference in the Judiciary?
Recent changes in the judiciary are sounding alarm bells and have invited the attention of the Bar Association. These include “the unseemly manner” in which the former Chief Justice Abdulai Conteh was treated, the departure of justice Boyd Carey and now the resignation of the President of the Court of Appeals, Justice Elliott Mottley. The independence of the judiciary has now come under question so News Five asked viewers for their opinion on whether there is political interference. Most of them think it’s pretty obvious and ninety percent of voters said yes while the remaining ten percent voted no. One viewer commented that “The whole point is that the PM should not be as involved in the judiciary as he is.”
