Charges of forgery reinstated against accounts executive
And in other news from the courts, a woman appeared in the Magistrates’ Court this morning on forgery charges that had been previously dismissed. Accounts Executive, Beverly Burke, is accused of altering Scotia Bank withdrawal slips amounting to four thousand dollars on August ninth and tenth, 2005. On the instructions of the D.P.P., the charges were reinstated against Burke and after her plea was taken, her attorney, Ellis Arnold requested once again that charges be dismissed because they resurfaced three years after the alleged offences and the established six month protocol had elapsed. Burke is being charged with two counts each of Possession of a False Document, Claiming Upon a Forged Document and Altering a False Document. Burke was offered bail at three thousand dollars and the case has been adjourned until August twenty-seventh to give the prosecution time to respond to Arnold’s submission.
