Caught on tape: minor shot by police
In other news, a sixteen year old minor left home with his father this morning and shortly after, ended up in the hospital. Father and son were heading to clean a yard, but made a stop at an abandoned house used as a hang out spot in the neighborhood. Within minutes a police patrol passed through the area, with that the group scattered. The officers opened fire on the men as they fled, but only the minor, Jarron Gray was hit. The shooting was captured by amateur video and clearly shows the police surrounding the minor as he went down on the ground. The single bullet luckily caught the minor on the knee and he has been released from the hospital. News Five spoke to his mother, Sharlette Gray, as she prepared to head to the police station. She was clearly upset about the incident and the way the cops on the scene handled the matter.

“He and Jarron gone round di lane. I know dehn have wah abandoned building round yah; wah abandoned house. Few minutes afta dat I sit down inna di chair and I hear BOW! Bow! I know my bwai dah wah target right so I hurry come out. So when I come out and I stand up yah dah di gate di try walk. When I look I si wah red police di come da di lane deh and he di fire shot like crazy.
So I walk gone so and by di time I reach di end ah my lane I hear somebody holla ma. So when I yer ma and I spin back I si my son di come out ah dis yard. So as ih come out ah dis yard yah di police, di police weh mi deh yah tell ah bwai get down pan di ground. Dehn time I noh even notice my son done get shot inna ih foot. So my son get down pan di ground and ih lay down deh. So I di walk towards my son fi ask my son weh gone on and di police seh no, no. ih seh dress back yoh can’t go deh.
So I seh Jar, weh happen? So ih seh mommy dehn shot me. So I tell ah weh pah and I look down and den I si ih whole foot bloody. So I di ask di police inna wah nice way boss why unnu shot my son? “We noh want yer nothing right now, we noh deh pan dat, just dress back, dress back. Like dat di police di behave. So I ask Jarron weh gone on. Ih seh we mi deh by di abandoned house. Ih seh deh pan di verandah and we si police dehn di come. Nobody noh wah stand up because di police dehn Chauncey nowadays. Dehn beat yoh fi nothing, dehn shot yoh fi nothing. So ih seh mommy Beef and so I run. Ih seh police di police noh freeze me or nothing mam, ih seh di police just shot me bow inna my foot.”

Even though the incident was caught by amateur camera, we need to answer the following questions then make the appropriate comment.
Why ordinary people will gather in an abandon house?
Does the groups are part of a gang?
Does the shooting victim have a long police rap sheet?
As we know, there are a lot of youth committing crime in Belize.
My point of view, if this guys are involved in illegal activities, then the police should start eliminate all the members of gangs. But they should not do it openly. Belize needs to get rid of the pest that have contributed in making Belize in ONE of the world most dangerous country, in terms of the murder per population.
This is one of the worse images that I have ever seen; don’t attempt to take this into the court room.
The abandon house has a bad reputation for criminals and cops, and yet father and felt the need to go hang out there, simply making an already bad situation worse. People must be held responsible for their own actions. Yet, this is not to say that the police were right for shooting at the regular suspects, they too must be held responsible for their actions.
More over there is just too much to be cleaned or tidy up in Belize right now after Richard, no time to be hanging out, or adding to the problems there.
A mother again. No kid is innocent. What the hell were they doing in a crack house? Why run?
Those little innocent monors are who are doing the killings. pity he survived.
Belizean citizen here living in the USA,if anything thing happens here in theUSA,a police shooting a anyone,much worst a minor,just for running away,that police,gets jailed time,the city for whom the police is working gets a big SUE.BY THE WAY,each town,or village here hires and fires its police.
Yeah right Police always kill ppl in the US and get away with that @#$%………….Police in Belize been doing @#$% like that and get away with it………Uniforn BADBOY…….look at the incident with Broaster he burn up the youngsta and nothing come out a that…..i have couple friends in Belize weh the BABYLON they kill and nothing come out a that…..dah when the table turn.
That is very true.. what sense does it make if a police who is suppose to be preventing crimes, is doing them…. this is uncalled for. when they are …they are wrong.. charged or something… justice has to be done.. one of my friends got shot and killed because of this same kind of craziness… you hire because we want the best, we fire because they turn out to be the worst….
it is a crime, even if it is an accident… he didn’t call for the boy…. the penalty should be on the line….
Too bad so sad. First, mothers need to protect their children by not picking up a man who can hardly help himself. he will not be a good influence on the male child especially and the female child will begin to believe that thats the way of life. A circle of poverty, lazinesss, and crime.
I’m sorry but that mother brought that upon her son the moment she brought a wanted man into his life.
Come on ladies out there. Be strong, stand on your own feet, sleep with your own eyes. stop believing that you need a useless man to make your life complete.
work hard for you and your children. Teach them to respect and to fear God. Pray and seek God when in trouble. Don’t forget to give thanks even when it seems there isn’t much to be thankful for.
