Two injured in Northern Highway accident
Three persons were involved in a crash on the Northern Highway, leaving one of them critically injured. At about nine-thirty Thursday night, Eusebio Urbina, was driving from Corozal to Orange Walk with twenty-two year old Lelett Calderon, a domestic of San Roman Village and Sandra Bautista, a forty-eight year old teacher, also of San Roman. Urbina reported to police that between mile seventy and seventy-one, he saw a ten wheeler truck driving fast towards him and to avoid a collision he swerved to the left side of the highway. Urbina then lost control and ran off the road. Calderon’s right leg was fractured and she complained of headaches as well as pain in her left shoulder, while Bautista was wounded to her knees and upper lip and had two of her fingers crushed. Both women were transported to the Orange Walk hospital and reports are that Bautista is listed in critical condition. Police are investigating and are looking for the driver of the ten wheeler truck.
