Robbers net sizeable bounty in separate burglaries

Separate burglaries have netted robbers over thirty-seven thousand dollars in cash and goods. On Wednesday, Ysenia Rojas reported to police that she was at her business, Belize Foam Factory, at mile two on the Western Highway when she heard her daughter scream out. Rojas says she was just about to call the police when she felt something on her lower back and heard a man telling her to hand over her phone and other items. A struggle ensued between the businesswoman and the burglar during which Rojas was pushed to the ground. Fearing for her life, Rojas says she handed over her purse which contained three hundred dollars, while the man helped himself to three cell phones.

But it was during a weekend break-in that burglars netted the mother load. Between two-fifteen and seven-fifteen on Sunday, a thief or thieves broke into the Scallop Drive home of Pearl Stuart by damaging the locks on a burglar and wooden door. Once inside, the men helped themselves to a number of items including Compaq computer, four watches, a karaoke machine, assorted alcoholic beverages, a cell phone, and a wallet containing one thousand U.S. dollars, a thousand Mexican pesos, and three hundred Singapore dollars. The total value of the items comes to just under thirty-six thousand dollars.

And in a clarification to a story in our newscast last night, contrary to a police report, a stolen BTB Nissan car, was in fact jacked from the company’s parking lot.
