Former politician, Eduardo “Dito” Juan, who now manages the Cayo High Road Cycling Team, was viciously attacked at around four-thirty p.m. on Thursday when he arrived at his farm in the Georgeville area. Today, shortly after his release from the hospital, Juan was still in pain and relived the brutal experience.

Eduardo “Dito” Juan, Assault/Robbery Victim

“When I arrived there I arrived there I didn’t see anybody there at all but after I locked the gate, I noticed that somebody was around my truck. One was on the right side tail end and the other one was in front of the bonnet, front ah di cab. At first I thought it was just kids that might have been playing around and I went to see for myself who they were. And when I went to look I was attacked and I was whipped up with sticks. They were ready apparently with sticks there to lash me out. When one whip me with the stick I think di next one push me down and then they start beating me up.  My back hurts me a lot and over this side. Both side of mi face they lick me with the stick but ih looks like the biggest impact was on this side.”

After beating Juan nearly unconscious, the two assailants robbed him of a thousand five hundred dollars and his licensed weapon.

“I don’t remember giving them anything but they took out everything, just clean me out and I was very, very weak at that time. I still had my gun with me and I pulled it out but I couldn’t take off the safety because I was weak, weak, weak. When they saw that, they grab it away and say give me this. I think they thought they had killed me already because they just fled the scene with all my money and my nine millimeter and the left.”

Battered and bleeding profusely, Juan managed to drive his truck over two miles on the dirt road to seek help at the Georgeville Police Station.

“I just thought that I should move because it came to my mind that they thought that they killed me and that’s why they fled and if I had just move around there and didn’t get into my vehicle and drive off they would have come back to kill me. So I drove, I couldn’t see hardly any of the road because I was bleeding severely through my mouth, through my nose and over here through my eyes. But with one eye, I saw blur, very, very, very dark but I still made it through to Georgeville where I reported it to the corporal there.”

A police officer rushed Juan to La Loma Luz Hospital where he was kept overnight for treatment. Juan believes his attackers are from the Georgeville area and had been watching him on his regular visits to his farm. Delahnie Bain for News Five.

Sorry to hear what happened to Dito hope he have a speedy recovery, one thing I would like to say though, don’t take any suspicious activity too lightly and always be prepared if you have a weapon on you and you suspect something make sure that you have it ready and approach with caution try to have your body protected if at all possible since you don’t know what these criminals are up to, I hope Dito can identify them. It’s a pity but the general concensus is that the legal system seems to be working for the criminals, I wish it was the other way around but the innocent always seems to suffer in Belize guess it is the law of the land.

Belize is going to hell. A country filled with killers, thieves, poverty, aids, drug addicts, crooked politicians.
Lets give Belize back to the Queen and hope she can clean it up.
We need to install laws like in Singapore or the Arab countries where you are executed for stealing.

  6. PRINCE MICHAELS says:

This story sickens me a lot! This is a well respected man who helps the community and the youths of the community he assists. Why on earth would anyone want to hurt him! You its just getting ridiculous in Belize these days. I guess the system will just get worst since we are only seeing more and more vicious beatings and murders but unfortunately no justice! Is it fair that citizens should now refer to the ” eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth law?”
