Spaniard disappears on San Pedro
Unconfirmed and late reports to our newsroom are that a flight attendant from Spain has gone missing on San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. She has been identified as Maria Antonia Plaza Gomez. According to reliable sources, she works as a flight attendant for Maya Island Air Regional. A representative for the company referred the media to the General Manager, who was not in office today.
However, it is believed the thirty seven year old woman spent the weekend on San Pedro and should have returned on a flight on Sunday afternoon. Plaza told the hotel employees that she was going to confirm her return flight for two p.m. at the airstrip. And while she did confirm the flight at the airport, she never made it on the plane. Sources say that her belongings are still at the hotel. While it is reported that her whereabouts are unknown, it is unclear as to the police involvement. Police Press Officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood said he is not aware of the disappearance and he is looking into it. San Pedro Police are also unaware of the disappearance but sources on the island say that there is an ongoing investigation. As we said, her disappearance is still unconfirmed by the police.
