Shooting victim, Keith Middleton, speaks from hospital bed

Twice attempts were made on his life and twice he survived. Keith Middleton has been before the courts on a number of charges but there have been no convictions against him so far. So who wants him out? Middleton says he knows who pulled the trigger earlier this week while he was at home with his girlfriend. The shot ripped through his body but today we found him at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital well enough to tell us his tale. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

Twenty-four year old Keith Middleton once again finds himself bedridden at the surgical ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, the two-time victim of Belize City’s ongoing street wars. He was at home on Monday night recovering from a previous shooting incident when his enemies sought to complete him.

“I mih just read ah lee two verse ah my bible and ting and mih di watch my TV and ting when time somebody come walk da my door and tell me dehn wahn talk to me yo check and then I just ask my gial fih open up di door and sih da who yo check and by di time she open up di door dah wah dark skin man but [I] noh really watch no face or nothing ih done do weh ih got fih do.”
And what the lone gunman did was fire a single round that penetrated Middleton’s chest and exited his upper back. He fell to the floor bleeding profusely, next to him a plate of food he was having for supper and a pair of crutches. Inside the small, elevated wooden apartment his girlfriend frantically dialed for help.

By his account Keith Middleton had only just decided to straighten things out and devote himself to spirituality in the wake of a recent attempt on his life when the events of his past caught up with him.

“All ah we have the same, all ah we have the same set ah enemies yo check. Soh ih no matta how much time woulda pass, ih could be ten years and somebody weh noh like you might wah attempt pahn your life again.”
The initial shot at his life, no pun intended, was taken on October fourteenth when a gunman took aim at him whilst standing near a tacos cart at the corners of Fabers Road and Central American Boulevard and let loose a hail of bullets. Middleton is now seriously considering a life away from the city.

“My plan da fih like just, just like exile fih a couple months ‘til my foot get betta and my chest get betta cah I cyant stay out ya like dis cah di police if dehn buck you di wear wah bullet proof vest dehn wahn charge you and lock up you dah jail fuh three months. If dehn ketch you with wah gun dehn dih look fuh give you some time and lock you up fih three months remanded to. So easier I just hold up ‘til when time I get betta and I wah stay protected to.”
His idea of protection this time around is not what one would think. Instead of carrying an illegal firearm on him he is depending on his friends which include his area representative and his girlfriend of three years to stare him in the right direction.

I start go dah work, I start take care a my woman right, and long side to all ah we know how fu read so we have to gah wah bible and if you believe eena God and Jesus ih noh matta who you believe eena as long as da di Most High.”
Middleton is relying on his newfound faith to see him through his recovery. He remains in a stable condition and is currently hooked up to a transfusion apparatus that is ridding his body of contaminated blood. Meanwhile Belize City police are yet to make an arrest in his shooting. Reporting for News Five, Isani Cayetano.
No one has been charged so far in the shooting and from his hospital bed, Middleton said he’s not looking for revenge.
If God is with him, the devil is working overtime because even if his enemies missed a bunch of times, their aim has gotten better. His statements are contradictory; he either saw the gunman or he didn’t & I don’t believe that there will be no retaliation.
It is time for his girlfriend to head to the hills.

All di bad man deh di tek out each other, unfortunately this doesn’t make our country any “safer” because this is all our innocent kids are seeing and adopting. I say let the badboys have their feast with each other. what the government needs to do is focus and come up with strategies to save the innocence of our kids in order to rebuild bz.
Live and Love, from one jackass to another, your head is more than a hat rack. The man keeps getting shot at, the gunman or gunmen hit their target twice in three weeks, he had his girlfriend open the door even though he ‘knew “they” were after him. He intends to get out of town for a few weeks until his foot heals. Why? Does that make sense to you? If she was your daughter, would you want her with him? I’m sure you have heard the expression “Foot weh yo mek fah?”. I stand by what I said.

SO UNLESS YOU PLAN ON GOING TO BELIZE HELP CHANGE THE LAWS AND HELP TEACH THE YOUTHS A TRADE OR PROVIDE A JOB FOR THEM TO OCCUPY THEIR TIME THEN YOU SHOULD JUST PRAY FOR BELIZE.
