ZEMO Flowers considers taking part in the next general elections

zenaida moya flowers

While the legal battles are now behind her and she can breathe a sigh of relief, the past thirteen months have been the most trying time of Moya’s political career.  In a one on one with Marion Ali, the mayor revealed that the knocks of life have matured her but she remains committed to the U.D.P. and is now considering a run in the general elections.

Zenaida Moya Flowers, Mayor, Belize City

“There have been, you know, lessons learnt. You know clearly, I think it has gotten me wiser.”

Marion Ali

“In what sense?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“To know how to deal with certain situations.”

Marion Ali

“Do you regret those comments that you made?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“At the time, I had just given birth and it was in a whole atmosphere whereby I could not believe that a young, a first-time mother would be put through what I was put through. In the same breath, I feel that it doesn’t matter what, you always have to ensure that you hold your cool.  I understand that there will be undue scrutiny, undue pressure—not so much so as a man would receive—some would venture to say, you don’t really see that scrutiny on male politicians.”

Marion Ali

“Are you telling me mayor that you feel that those charges were brought on solely because of your gender and not because of the “irregularity” that were pointed out before the charges were brought?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“I feel that the results of the court case have shown you whether or not there were reasons, the real reasons or adequate enough reasons of why I was hauled in that mess. So that’s my response to that.”

Marion Ali

“Now that you’ve been “vindicated,” do you feel this will give you a second chance to reenter into the party?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“I had said this before and I will say it again, I am a UDP, I remain a UDP, I’m still committed to the U.D.P.”

Marion Ali

“Does this vindication indicate to you that you have a good chance now at entering politics at the advanced level?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“Yeah, it does, I believe, open up those doors even more for me. I can’t say the doors were closed, but it certain opens it up even more.”

We asked Mayor Moya Flowers what area she had interests in running but she declined to say.  Her case was prosecuted by Sergeant Egbert Castillo and presiding Magistrate was Sharon Frazer.

WE STILL NEED TO FIND THE MONIES that went missing under HER WATCH!!!!!

  8. Fed Up says:

Of course, she wants to run for general election!!! City Council is now broke, she has gotten away with her under depositing, it’s time for the big leagues…bigger $$$$!!! While her lifestyle has been large the city has been taken for a ride, just look around and nuff said! Moya needs to understand that in the court of public opinion, she has been found guilty as charged, like others have said, if you have the money you can get away with anything!!! NO POLITICIAN is ever found guilty in Belize, ever!

  9. Angela says:

I’m happy for you Zenaida. Remain focus on God and on serving your country and you will always WIN!!! you were a successful Head of Department before you entered politics and so many of us admired you from then. thats who we love. and for all those who REFUSE to acknowledge that Zenaida left a job in the public service on Payscale 25 and had ALREADY owned her own house and vehicles and was already starting her own business, etc., its just because you jealous and hate to see a woman rise. Z, you know you were a ALREADY a success and did not need politics but since you in it, just continue. we rooting for you and as long as you willing to run, we wah support you!
