V.I.P. does not support Gov’t amnesty program for illegal immigrants

paul morgan

The programme is being quietly pushed forward by government and is a move that many political insiders believe could swing the outcome of a future election because those who get residency will eventually qualify for nationality. It could also open the doors for a number of undesirables to slip through the net to become bonafide Belizeans. There are lingering questions about the ability to also carry out thorough background checks and if an ethnic balance will be maintained among those who apply. Many organizations have remained mum on the proposal, but the Vision Inspired by the People Party thinks the amnesty is not the right solution.

Paul Morgan, Chairman, V.I.P.

“I understand there is a move by government to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants in Belize. We have experienced that and the V.I.P. will be putting out a release on that shortly.   We have experienced amnesty in 1993, 1995 and it has done no real good. We appreciate the work of persons coming into our country. We know there is lots of labor coming in; we know there are a lot of technical skills.  It is our duty also to be neighborly. But amnesty really has never worked.  What works and what we are recommending to Belize is immigration reform, serious immigration reform. You see, we can’t risk the control of our political system to others who are not  native to Belize. That is our point.”

The amnesty, which is expected to be rolled out in 2011, will start with a budget of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars during the first phase of the program. There will be processing centers around the country that will be supervised by the Immigration Department.

If the VIP get its act together THEY COULD BE CONTENDERS, especially with the HANDICAPPED PUP…… and the BUMBLING UDP.

WILL THEY — CAN THEY — ARISE TO THE OCCASION???

    THERE IS A LEADERSHIP VACUUM………….

  2. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

VIP is not against amnesty and is only opposing the immediate passage of laws for Amnesty

simply because we are in trouble as a nation. With that said—put down your STINKING PEN

and deal with the matter at hand–NO MORE BAGS OF TRICKS- THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL

SECURITY IS A RECOGNIZED CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION- BELIZE is under attack by a few

powerful individuals who have their heads above the clouds and reality of Belize–They don’t

care about the laws of the country since they can break them and rewrite them so as to justify

their criminal desires. The truth is that as we the outsiders or we the Belizeans who love our

people and country have recognize that Belize is a play ground for criminals and has been ran

as well as been ran by CRIMINAL ELEMENTS-Case in point –the passport and visa issue–the

communication department (SSB-TELEMEDIA ) and the RAPE of the PEOPLE by a selected

few, who should govern–The blatant discharge of the heads and total disrespect to the

individuals that uphold and practice their duties with due righteousness–While the CORRUPT

GOVERNMENT hurt BELIZEANS and their unborn seeds—they intend to turn Belizeans into

SLAVISH LAPDOGS to their reality of business and control—Its time BELIZEANS Refuse

    DAMAGE-REFUSE CORRUPTION–REFUSE BAD GOVERNMENT-REFUSE BARROW AND HIS

DISEASE-REFUSE_ MUSA/AND THE PUP THE NEW GUY BRICENO_____LOOK TO THE

FUTURE__IF YOU THINK 50 IS OLD YOU ARE WRONG____GET OLDER AND SMARTER AND

RICHER__THERE IS NO REASON WHY YOU SHOULD BE LEFT WITHOUT. Do a test and

send someone of your family who is older to collect SOCIAL SECURITY ASSISTANCE IN

    BELIZE—NOW WAIT__WAIT_WAIT_WAIT__STILL WAITING–WAIT SOME MORE USELESS

SLAVE—THIS I APOLOGIZE TO HAVE SAID— VIP is new and I will Support them—LETS PUT

VIP IN POWER BY XMAS. AXE THEM OUT…

  3. cindy says:

  4. Chato says:

  5. carlos says:

The move may be good as a christian but government should be careful how it is done. Probably involve the NGO and representatives of the major political parties.
The next concern is that these people have already broken the law of the country by entering Belize through the back. They should pay a fine. I agree with the VIP that we need immigration reform but do not rush this or else it may have serious consequence. A lot criminal are feeing from other countries in latin america. We do not know what kind of people are entering Belize.

CINDY—the world is full of visitors that became citizens–sometimes by choice -sometimes by

kidnapping-Slavery-trafficking -etc—don’t forget that you are living in the year 2010- if you swam

across a river or entered Belizean soil as a visitor you must recognize that you are in a new land

with different laws-if you disobey you get arrested and pay a fine or go to jail- After living in

Belize you will want to become righteous and pay your taxes and be recognize as

Belizeans—your children will certainly be Belizeans and will speak CREOLE and English if they

follow your Maya or Ketchi tradition they might speak your tongue-If they follow Chinese, Indian,

Spanish, Garifuna they might also learn a few techniques of that tradition- Never spit in the air it

    will fall on your face.

  10. el alcalde says:

“AS the mud flies watch where it falls”
Hi Bruce, I understand most of all that you say and all is true , but please use other words for the last that you mention above, please?

  11. justice says:

No doubt someone or group is paying a lot of money to get the government to move in this direction. How can they think amnesty is anything to put on the table right now when planes are sneaking !@#$ loads of imigrants from terrorist countries into our defenseless Belize. I don’t know where this brain baby came from but they need to seriously rethink this deadly lack of judgement. For the good people who want to become citizens I do feel for you but right now we need to clean up our government so that Belize can be a safe place to live, and not a dangerous terrorist playing field. I hope that this is not a blanket amnesty, there needs to be some serious checks and balances in place to protect the native citizens from being robbed, if you let too many questionable people into your country soon you may look around and find that the monkey on your back has turned into a gorilla. (meaning we could loose control of our country to radical groups who will continue to bring in their own people and shift the balance of power then who knows how the !@#$ will fall).
