Police nab robber of Chinese grocer
A twenty-two year old was remanded to Hattieville prison today after holding up a Chinese grocer twice. Delroy Chaplin of West Collet Canal was charged with six counts of Burglary and Unlicensed Ammunition when he appeared in court this afternoon. Xaio Hua Zhu reported to police that on July twenty-first she was sweeping her Meighan Avenue business, Jenny’s Store, when a man entered the premises. The man pointed a gun at her and helped himself to seventeen hundred and fifty dollars in cash and over a thousand dollars in Smart and Digicell phone cards. Before leaving the store, the robber hit the woman on the head. It was déjà vu for Xiao on Wednesday when the same man entered the store, pulled out a handgun, and once again helped himself to cash and phone valued a hundred and seventy-three dollars. But this time Chaplin did not get a chance to take off with his loot, as he was surprised by the police and disarmed of his point twenty-five calibre pistol with five rounds of ammunition.
