Colombians land and leave during drug bust

While the nation is still reeling from the suspected drug plane that landed on the Southern Highway after midnight on Saturday, there’s some information that at any other time would have been seen as mere coincidence, but is now open for speculation. Last week Thursday, a small twin engine plane bearing the markings TG-MCA landed at the Philip Goldson International Airport. The TG stands for Tango Guatemala, the origin of the flight. On board were five Colombian nationals. On Sunday the Guatemalan plane left the airport without its passengers but another plane landed from Guatemala, with less than the required twenty-four hours notice. Identified as TGMOR, it picked up the five Colombian nationals and flew them back to Guatemala. The Ministry of Defense and Immigration was informed of the request to land since the plane gave short notice and new policies dictate that the ministry is informed of charter flights from neighboring countries. It is not known if the Ministry is seeking to know more about the passengers or the urgency of the return flight. And we cannot confirm if it has any bearing to the drug bust.

  2. Robert says:

Apparently someone has decided that Belize airports must be open and free from law enforcement activity. I wonder why?

THEY WANT THEIR MONEY………………… PLAIN and SIMPLE!!!!

  4. Global Perspective says:

Now I want to hear what will be done to address this problem. I want to hear how the government with the support of the opposition will act to protect Belize. It is no time for gloating over problems that have been plaguing Belize for than a decade. It was suggested earlier this week that Joe Briceno needs to come forward more, not from the position of using the public for his political gains but to act as the opposition leader showing solidarity that both parties are at one in the fight against the narcotic traffickers. BELIZE SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS A HUB FOR DRUGS TO NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE. I want an end to the village style politics because you are dealing with an organisation bigger than Belize and unless you politicians grow up and behave like men, we are doomed.

  6. rootsman says:

I wonder what was the reason given for visiting Belize, since Belize is so involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs, shouldn’t there have been suspicions of a chartered plane landing at our airport bearing passengers from a well known drug country.

I think that we need to start being very suspicious of these chartered planes landing at the PGIA I never thought that it could be so easy for international flights to land at any airport at all not just in Belize without knowing the purpose for these flights.

If the airport doesn’t already have cameras set up I think that they should and that pictures should be taken of all passengers coming in on these chartered flights so at least we will know who these people are visiting our country this should be a part of Mr. Barrow’s transparency and accountability policy.

  7. Cutty Ligiyaba says:

The Corrupt National Security Organization that exist in Belize are even bolder now that they can

corrupt there subordinates and make the public believe that it had been those of lower ranks

and status who alone had committed these various crimes of Drug trafficking, Human

trafficking, etc. It would be a lesson learned on their part when the same persons they have

corrupted and allowed for these crimes to be committed, to turn on them and bite back-Hertular

is in American jail implicating ministers and others for their involvement in Drug trafficking and

they are disowning him..You poor Belizeans who work for the Belize Government is time that

you ask the question Why/–especially if you are given a questionable assignment.

  9. javier solis says:

So many shady happenings. And every one looking at each other, and the mistrust is there. Every plane that lands in Belize is now under suspicion, and are guilty of an offence until proven innocent. ………..

  11. Soh Jah Seh says:

At the time the drug plane landed, where were these Colombian visitors? Where were they hosted? In this situation I believe they should have not been allowed to leave the country and through the Int’l airport, I would venture to state that they were housed by people in position, folks who knew their business and purpose to be in Belize. Certainly one can only assume they were perpetrators of this illegal activity in our home land, but suspicion under these circumstances should be enough to delay their departure or only after they have been interrogated concerning their visit. Collusion at the highest level of our country’s administration can be seen in this operation, the people that got caught, again are the small fish and will be protected in the end; however Belize’s’ image will suffer internationally as a country whose government is involved in the smuggling of drugs and humans for financial gains to those officials/politicians. These scandals are shameful and the people that are responsible have no love for this country and its people, they’re just looking to live large for themselves and their family and f@$$K the rest. Look at Colombia and Colombians; they cannot travel freely in many countries, when one move it is assumed he/she is up to no good and that is what could happen for Belize and Belizeans. Some people needs to be jailed for this and I’m not just talking about the police officers, !@#$ does flow uphill bro, it starts from top to bottom and that’s where these investigations needs to be focused. I need not say more.

  12. BZNinCALI says:

Can we assume they had passports & visas? So we know who they say they are.

How often do we have private planes coming in from other parts of Latin America & the Caribbean?

What in our rules & regulations & their implementation is making it so easy for these people to enter & exit our country at will when I get a ration of $$it from the idiot at the counter about inconsequential items I have in my possession for my relatives?

  13. Andrew says:

    People,

Drug smuggling and human trafficking is nothing new to Belize. This has been going on since the early 80’s, and the Kingpins are currently living a respectful high profile life with massive businesses and houses. Look around you and you will know who they are. Can you imagine the illegality that will go on when the Riversdale International Airport get open later next year?? More worst things are yet to come!

  14. D-power says:

It’s really pissing me off to observe how the different sectors of government in Belize are collaborating in performing such ill deeds upon its citizenry. PUP blue or UDP red doesnt matter which party is in charge, the only thing they both are concerned about is green(money) . Operations of these magnitudes carried out year after year can never ever manifest without very key departments involvement. Until major individuals start getting hurt physically or foot soldiers start spilling the bean, the real movers and shakers of these operations will never get touched. They will continue to hide and remained untouched behind the viel of their positions in power. Analyzing from the scope of this bust and the history of drug trafficking worldwide, the law enforcement officials in Belize are not eqippped, educated, or sophisticated enough to deal with these hoodlums. Outside assistance is sorely needed. The unmanned survailance drone crashed right???Hmmm…coincidence?

  15. NEWARK says:

MR. Barrow is enough going to be enough, when are you going to grow some balls and root out this problem that is hurting my country. I want to see you as the leader try and bring back our beautiful Belize to what I remimber it to be when I was growing up. My hearth hurt went I read these stories about Belize and is embarass at the same time when these people in my office talk about going to visit Belize. I want to say it is dangerous dont go there.

  16. egbert says:

The plane with the Columbians and the other plane that landed on the southern highway simply brought food for the hurricane survivors—-LOL

Do you see anyone from the (pup or udp)going ballistic? Boths parties are laughing all the way to the bank, while the stupid population !@#$%^& instead of acting constructively as a people.

  17. egbert says:

Belize’s national security is at risk when planes from a foreign country can land on the roads, just like that.
The same manner in which those drug planes are landing——- a foreign country can descend on Belize in the middle of the night and claim the territory while the government and people are sound asleep.

Why are Belizeans so passive about relaxed mode of the department responsible for National Security?

Wake up, unite and start acting constructively before it is too late!

  18. Donny says:

there is no way that drug planes can be stopped from landing in belize because you need 2 things: 1) a radar system that covers not only the land area of belize but also about 100 miles outside our land and sea borders (2) you need an air force with jets that can fly at mach 2 or there about to intercept and shoot down unidentified air planes approaching our air space.
Basically it is impossible for us to secure our airspace unless we had the 2 things i just mentioned.

  19. Mustard Stand says:

WELL…………….When it turns to flour………………Its call “high altitude baking”. lol

  20. bzgial says:
