More investigations into Saturday’s cocaine seizure in the south

There’s more to report on Saturday’s cocaine seizure in the south. As part of an ongoing investigation into the landing of a twin engine aircraft on the Southern Highway near Bladen Reserve, police were preparing today to effect a search warrant on the property of Customs boatman Harold Usher in Corozal Town.  Usher was arrested and charged along with five police officers over the weekend and charged for a single round of ammunition allegedly found inside a van they were traveling in that was intercepted several miles away from the aircraft.  Various items including wet suits and car batteries were also found in the vehicle.  Eighty bales of pure Colombian cocaine, with a street value of close to one hundred and forty million dollars were found in the area on Saturday afternoon.  Near the village of San Juan, Usher along with Sergeants Lawrence Humes and Jacinto Roches; corporals Nelson Middleton, Renel Grant and Vidal Cajun were captured.  Usher, who is being represented by attorney Dickie Bradley, has been transferred to Corozal Town. Meanwhile, an application has been filed in court for the destruction of the huge quantity of drugs.

  1. GUINEA GRASS Observer says:

a raid of the house of the suspected individuals should have taken place immediately after being charged.

by now, all possible evidence that link them to the landing of the plane, is long gone from their houses.

  2. Earl Grey says:

That civil service job must pay well, Dickie is back. Dickie mein, what happened to the boy from St. Michael’s”? The sad reality is with the stories in the news this past week or two, this does give validity to the PM’s argument about the Bar. Every accused deserves legal representation but why you? Is this the “organization’s” way of covering your share? Not an accusation, just a question.

  5. rootsman says:

Should not the homes of the police officers also be searched? come on guys we don’t want trickie Dickie to use this as a prejudice against his client after all they were all arrested for the same crime, I think that no stone should be left unturned their homes, their bank accounts, their telephone conversations anything that can be used to determine the activities of these culprits.

  6. Corozal Queen says:

I agree with Guinea Grass Observer all those police officers involved houses should have been seach immediately. I am telling you my fellow Belizeans this will soon blow over like wah breeze and nothing will come out of it all the police men involve will be back on their jobs like nothing happen. Just imagine they are being held and I am sure our hard tax dollars will be paying their salaries even though they are not working right now. Did anything come out of the drug plane that landed some weeks ago in Sarteneja…No

…. It is a very serious matter for a family to have someone in their presence with a sawed off shot gun-clearly is an illegal deadly weapon- and not be concerned enough to call on authorities! The majority of the populace seem to think that is not their responsibility to keep guns and drugs off the street and away from their own children. Why, it is no wonder the murder rate is only escalating and so is the school drop out rate, because the parents who don’t care are harboring criminals in their homes while jeopardizing the safety of their family. What’s even beyond my understanding, is that they are also encouraging their own children to help criminals! The Police cannot change this in Belize! Us Belizeans have to take the bull by the horns and turn this country around starting at home, this includes law enforcement officers and their families as well. Be a good example to our young children and make a change for a good future.

Yes, some times life is challenging, but who says life is easy? Life will always be challenging, God provides strength and the way, even when we are least expecting it. But your life needs to change and you need to turn to God. We can change and we can heal the land, lets all do it together ASAP!

The same thing I had commented on before we need better policing of these matter. What was the commissioner of police doing all this while. Maybe try to cover someone else @$$. That is why he did not raid these people houses immediately after there was involved with the crime, Evidence is far gone already, destroyed or remove from these houses, what can we link these criminals too. Nothing! Poor policing from top to bottom. These people will walk free and nothing will ever come out of it. More drugs will continue to flow through the country like a stream. Nothing to stop it, because of the slackness of our national securities.

  9. rony fuentes says:

25 packs of 1 kilo comes in a bail, a section searching consist of 8 men ,17 loose packs was found with d 80 bales ,now do the maths 25 minus 17 equals 8 .each person took 1 ,deal with them as well, the hunters will be after them

  10. Snuggles says:

I don’t know y u all r so hard on Dickie Bradley. He has a job to do, yes its getting the jury, or court system to say these people r not guilty. But don’t blame him blame the system that can’t find them guilty. They r the ones, I am an attorney and if i had gotten this job I would hav taken it caz, dats wat i went 2 school for. An i make my money the honest way, proving my clients r not guilty even if they r.

  11. rod says:
