Police intercept robbery in process
And in Belize City, this morning police stopped a robber dead in his tracks as he struggled with the owner of a Chinese store on Meighan Avenue in the King’s Park area. The police caught twenty-two year old Leroy Chaplin armed with a point twenty-five pistol struggling with Zhu Hua Xino, the proprietor of the shop. The police quickly disarmed Chaplin and took him into custody. Chaplin was found with over seven hundred dollars, phone cards, and a loaded point twenty-five pistol. He has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Firearm and Ammunition without a License. The proprietor of the business, thirty-eight year old Xino, said the intruder entered the store through a small entrance of the burglar bar near the counter brandishing a gun. Chaplin is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
