And in Cayo and Orange Walk, police find bodies of missing men
And in the Cayo District, police came across what is believed to be yet another murder this morning. The victim, twenty-four year old Pedro Guzman, recently got out of prison after the charge of the July 2004 murder of Hershel Brown was dismissed against him. Today Guzman’s mother, Loraine Guzman, told News Five that her son disappeared two weeks ago. Senior Superintendent of Police, James Magdaleno, again described the gruesome discovery.
Assistant Supt. Julio Valdez, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“At about twelve-twenty-five p.m. on the twenty-sixth, an Ignacio police visited the Santa Rosa Road in the Calla Creek area of the Cayo District. About fifty feet in the bushes, they observed what appear to be human bones scattered. The person was dressed in long blue jeans pants and a long sleeveless undershirt, white and blue Nike tennis and grey boxer shorts. That remains; the skull portion appears to be a bullet hole to the back of the head.”

“Saturday made two weeks that I last saw him. He left my house and said he was not gonna be long and that he wasn’t gonna stay out late and I never saw him again. He just went out. He said he was going out of the town. In the night he left home about seven-thirty, eight and he just came to the door and he said mom I’ll be back and I said be careful and he seh “done seh it”, you know dah lee phrase that they use and I never saw him again. He start telling me that they start following him, chasing him and stuff like that. We didn’t report that to the police but of course, when he went missing that’s what I told them that he had said.”

And cops in the north are also busy trying to identify human remains they discovered in the village of Trinidad in Orange Walk District on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, police say twenty-two year old Armick Escobar and eighteen year old Alden Hall remain missing.
