Guatemalan prisoners escape in broad daylight

Three inmates described as Guatemalan nationals are enjoying freedom tonight. That is, because they escaped from the Kolbe Foundation at nine this morning. The trio; Melvin Zacarias, Jose Interiano, and Wilfredo Vasquez were cutting grass in the prison compound when they made good their escape. The guard at the tower was not watching them and they took advantage of a flaw in a cement wall which is covered with wire. The wire rotted in an area close to the ground and the men broke through the wall to freedom. The inmates had machetes in their possession but are not considered dangerous. Not withstanding, Kolbe advises the public and motorists to be careful and on the lookout for the three men especially on the Western Highway. The foundation is working around the clock with the police to capture the prisoners.

Zacarias was serving time for Possession of Controlled Drugs, Illegal Entry, Unlicensed Ammunition and Unlicensed Firearm, Interiano and Vasquez were both in jail for Drug Trafficking.
