But receiver will pay salaries to former National Transport employees

But while the zoning issue won’t be worked out until 2011, another issue that has been at the core of contention is being settled. When National Transport fell into receivership, it was at the end of a workweek in which workers expected salaries and Christmas bonuses. And though all assets, including cash, belonged to the bank in which the brothers owe large sums of cash, the receiver and the labor department have been discussing a move for final payment workers. Phillip Jones, Former Operations Manager for National Transport explained more.

Philip Jones, Former Operations Manager, National Transport

“Today the labor department is meeting along with the receiver to sit down and go over the salaries for all the two hundred and seventy-five employees. We submitted all information to the labor department. We have been working very closely with them as from last week. A resolution should be passed today and hopeful out of that meeting with the labor department and the receiver, national workers should start receiving payments before Christmas.”

“These funds will be coming from within the receiver?”

Philip Jones

“That’s correct because ultimately the receiver is responsible for the workers that were sent home on the tenth of this month. And [ahm] they had sit down with the labor department, we have submitted everything that was to be submitted to the labor department. We have been working very closely with them from last week Friday and I believe today, we should receive payment hopefully for the workers. They had assured us, the labor department, that they will do everything necessary to ensure that the receiver does the right thing and pay the workers. And they are fighting very hard to ensure that that is being kept bfore the Christmas that everyone receive their severance, their pay due and whatever they were due to being paid.”

At news time, the receivers have agreed to pay the salaries owed to the workers and the Novelo’s brothers got back buses belonging to their other company, called Intransit.

I am glad the workers are getting their money before Christmas but how can a company that cannot make payments to the bank promise or give Christmas bonuses, who is their accountant?

  2. Earl Grey says:

WHEN THEY ACTUALLY GET THE MONEY IN THEIR HANDS………………THEN WE’LL CELEBRATE.
