Tony Novelo’s girlfriend charged with Mischievous Act
When the receivers moved in on the Novelo brothers, Tony and David, their assets were repossessed for unpaid debts. A vehicle driven by Tony’s girlfriend thirty-four year old Yasmin Villanueva, was taken on November thirtieth as part of the properties belonging to National Transport. Villanueva, a businesswoman of Cemetery Road, says that she had parked on New Road and was approached by a police officer and receiver, Jason Skeen, who demanded that she hand over the vehicle. She did but later claimed that she had fifty-five thousand dollars inside the Toyota Land Cruiser when it was confiscated. She told police that money was left in the center console between the two front seats, and when given the opportunity to check inside she couldn’t find it. But was she lying about losing money she never had in the first place? That’s what the cops believe following investigations that concluded on Wednesday. Villanueva was arrested and today she was charged in Magistrates Court for Committing a Mischievous Act. She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of one thousand dollars and her next court date is set for January twenty-eighth 2011.
That’s not the only issue before the courts in the saga of the Novelo brothers. There was a resolution on Wednesday over salaries for its two hundred and seventy-five employees that loss their jobs when National Transport folded. The receivers met with the Labor Department and agreed that the salaries would be forthcoming as soon as they know who to pay. The Novelo brothers blamed the financial woes of the company on a zoning law that allegedly crippled seventy percent of its routes. The brothers have resumed bus operations under two different company titles, Belize Metro and Intransit.

Brave woman, traveling around the city with that much cash on her. How many scams do these people have going, the girlfriend drives a car that no one is paying for. They cannot pay the bank but get to keep some of their buses & they had cash on hand to pay 270+ employees their regular pay plus a Christmas bonus according to the stories they told when the bank stepped in & the girlfriend misplaced $55,000.00 in walking around money. And we expect the broke kids to have a conscience. Good luck…
How sad to see that the “rich” people have a set of rules and we the working class have to suffer, go broke, loose our homes etc…. The saying ” the rich get richer” seems to be true…once more how sad…
Too much regulations lead to this. Why not let these companies just run. The only job that the GOB will have is to monitor that the companies operate in a safe manner and at a reasonable rate. I am just sayin.
what if the lady had the money for real, you think our cops will give it back..this lady family owns RENES Store on Cemetry Road. one of the most successful wholesale grocery store and she could have been on the way to the bank to make a deposit. lets not be quick to judge this one because of our disdain for the Novelo Brothers.
