Carlos Seguro hands over bullet but crack also falls in front of cops

Carlos Seguro

In court today, a caretaker from Ladyville pleaded guilty to two of three charges against him. Forty year old Carlos Seguro was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a break-in back in October at the home of Douglas Thompson, the owner of Black Orchid Resort in Burrell Boom. But when the cops took him in at the Ladyville station, Seguro handed over a nine millimeter bullet that he had in his pocket. That was one more charge added against him… and then there was one more. While Seguro pulled out the bullet, a small packet of suspected crack cocaine fell from his pants. So today he was arraigned for Kept Ammunition without a Gun License, Possession of Control Drugs and Aggravated Burglary. He pleaded guilty to the drug and ammo charges, but disputed some of the facts for the burglary so a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He was sentenced to three years for the ammunition and one for the cocaine; both are to run concurrently. The burglary occurred on October fourteenth when a total of thirty-nine thousand dollars in items, including a Dodge Caravan and several electronic items, were stolen from Thompson’s home.

Many Belizeans living outside of the country would like to come home to retire but we would be baits for these crooks. Will this ever change?

    CANDIDATE FOR……………BELIZE’S DUMBEST CRIMINAL 2010……………LOL

  3. BZNinCALI says:

Did he have the keys to the caravan or was he driving it when the police caught up with him? The man’s face looks like it has been burnt, he may be smoking bullets too.

  4. The People Had Enough says:

Look at this guy; he doesn’t even look like a crackhead, he looks like a normal dude, who could even be a doctor? hahaha, i keed, i keed, if that ain’t a crack superstar, then I don’t know who is.

To you hypocrite Belizeans who live da States…I call you all traitors to this Nation; all you do is complain about how bad Belize is, yet you are sucking on the tits of the country that has had the MOST negative influence and impact on our beautiful Belize and its people and that country is the great old Uncle Sam…what? You think that cocaine and crack was Belizean invention? Do you not realize that all the drugs that are passing through Belize is bound for the USA? Our people, Belize…we are just collateral damage for useless, immoral, unethical, narcissistic people called Americans…before you run down your own people and your home country try to remember why Belize has suffered and will continue to suffer the collateral damage of the extremely high drug demand of the American populace. All Belizeans should come home, bring your dead presidents and invest in your country so that we who live here; who feels it and know it, don’t have to sell our country out to foreigners…time to shut up and fight for your country and stop whining like the typical Americans goddamn brainwashed so-call Belizeans.

  5. BZNinCALI says:

@The People Had Enough, last summer when PM Barrow was in America, he had a level of security even he could not have imagined, he was treated like what he is, the head of state. Even he acknowledges the fact that most Belizeans who live here left Belize to improve our economic situation & for educational opportunities that we dared not dream of in Belize. Illegal drug use is a choice & we cannot blame addicts in America for converting otherwise good citizens into becoming felonious abusers.

Those Useless, Immoral, Unethical Narcissists send money home to keep the economy afloat. We ship care packages which has kept Belizean shippers in business. Many parents are out here working hard at jobs they hate so that the children they left behind can get the education they, the parents never got. How often have you walked or driven by someone’s home & did not stop to think that the people living there are benefactors of the dead presidents courtesy of Belizeans busting their arses for in the rain, in the snow or when it is 120 degrees in the shade in Vegas just so that the parents & occasionally the children left behind can be more comfortable. So that they have their own homes to return to & far too have often been burnt by Belizeans who are clueless & so myopic that they cannot see beyond their noses & in many cases cut off their nose because in their greed forgot it was attached to their faces & blamed everything but their own stupidity for people refusing to help. Belize will be a case study when we can sell it to the world as a beautiful place that was on the wrong road, headed for destruction but which the people through sheer willpower managed to turn around. There are a lot of good folks in Belize & that spirit has endured even in those of us who left.

Most Belizeans & Americans do not reflect the armpit of society that you are describing , look beyond what you think you see. For each obnoxious arse you run into, there are a lot of good people & we complain because it pisses us off when we come home & we see our old folks unable to so simple things like go to the market , sit on their veranda without the protection of the cages the criminals have forced on them. By the way, by accepting that we are collateral damage we become accomplices in our own victimization.

  7. The People Had Enough says:

BZNinCALI…go sing to another choir my amigo. I am Belizean in Belize, who got a college education IN BELIZE, I had plenty of people and family members who tried to get me to go to the states to chase the American dream (money); but I stayed IN BELIZE, I started my own business IN BELIZE, and I can say that my personal business and my family business are among the successful 100% Belizean businesses IN BELIZE. I tell my siblings who want to send me things – all people like you do is perpetuate the colonial mentality; Belizeans here simply sit on their butts because they know their ‘stock’ d come fram foreign…and there lies one of the fundamental problems of Belizeans…always looking for a hand out from someone…a little note, my family business have been successfully ran for more than 30 years without anyone of them having more than a high school education, but common sense and hard, sweat equity work, goes a looooong way.

And when I say useless, immoral, unethical narcissist I mean the entire American ‘culture’ I did not mean Belizeans living over there; but am sure you like most Belizeans I have ever met are so proud to state that they are also an American, like it is some badge of honor, I am 100% Belizean, don’t even have a visa for over 2 years and have no intentions of going to the states because all the material things i need can be delivered to my door steps here in belize.

Also, you do realize that the entire country of Belize does not lie in the, probably 5 blocks that most murders happen right? You need to practice what you preach and realize that not the entire country of Belize and all Belizeans are just walking around robbing and murdering each other, I live and to this day still visit places where people still leave there doors open all day long; right in Belmopan this exist, in Punta Gorda, in San Ignacio, hell right in Belize City and many other places throughout our jewel.

I am not accepting we are collateral damage – we as a nation and a people, ARE; that’s simply a stated fact.

We as a people know exactly what our problem is; but as Evan X Hyde have writing about as well as other Belizeans; we are still trapped in a colonial mentality; we know what our problem is but we are waiting for someone to come fix it for us…our population are acting like children thus the reason we have a leader who is acting like a dictator; because a dictator can be defined as someone who knows best for someone/people who don’t know what’s best for themselves.

Belizeans home and abroad need to stop complaining and complaining and complaining and think this has no root cause; be a part of the solution and not a spectator.

  8. The People Had Enough says:

To BZNinCALI; here is a little food for thought, per se. Our country is heading at full throttle to a fascist state.

Here is a quick definition of fascism: governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Here are 10 steps towards fascism:
    1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy:
    – murder and mayhem in the streets; the enemy is the ‘youth’ with a gun ready to kill and rob.
    2. Create a gulag: well Belize City can be considered a gulag; people are prisoners of their homes; they fear for their lives by even wondering in their own yards; thinking a stray bullet might out their lights.
    3. Develop a thug caste: Guess who? The Barrows, friends of Barrows, families of Barrows and his crony ministers and their friends and families.
    4. Set up an internal surveillance system: Barrow did spend well over a million dollars to buy a truck that drives around with equipment that can eavesdrop on telephone calls right; and Barrow did take over BTL right; where he has the ability to read every single email and listen to every call if he wants et al et al.
    5. Harass citizens’ groups: He treats the Mayans like crap; he treats…well he attacks anyone who does not ‘worship’ him.
    6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release: did he not try to pass a law that would allow the cops to lock people up for 72 hours without bail or due process.
    7. Target key individuals: Aschcroft, Musa et al et al
    8. Control the press: Wow, didn’t Barrow just launch an attack on Channel 5…are you getting the picture here my American in Cali?
    9. Equate dissent with treason: this is an easy one; if you don’t agree with Barrow he will make you pay…ooooh he will make you pay.
    10. Suspend the rule of law: is there any law in Belize…really?

I see the big picture my padawan; we have maybe a year more before Barrow declares himself supreme ruler of Belize, because it is the only way; we (Belizeans) haven’t gotten out of control, everyone has gotten out of control…read your papers this country is in an economic free fall and social chaos.

  9. Josie says:

well said BZNcali, I concur, they are clueless at what we go thru over here, we do things that we haven’t dreamt of doing and having to deal with the racist remarks and back stabbing or brown nosing to get along or how much harder we have to work because we are foreigners

  10. bond-james says:

one bullet apiece of crack, three years, kill one person, time spent until trial, then you go home. only in Belize.

  11. The People Had Enough says:

booo hoooo Josie; typical whinny @$$ Belizeans; as far as I am concerned all Belizeans like you should stay over there; no sweat of my ball sack.

  12. BZNinCALI says:

The People Had Enough, I will not get into a back & forth with you, I feel sorry for the level of ignorance & venom you display as you try to wrap what would otherwise be a few good points in a cohesive argument.

Amiga has traveled across our country & many others. I have lived beyond the imaginary 5 blocks you describe & know what exists beyond my doorsteps. I live simply & choose to travel beyond the relative comfort & safety of my community so that I can experience the rest of the world & have seen it from a 5 star hotel in Shanghai to half wall shacks with thatch roofs in Africa & Asia & know that the crime we are experiencing in Belize is not the result of poverty. Making a conscious decision to stay ignorant is your choice but as a Belizean living in Belize what you expressed here is a hostility & stereotype of your fellow Belizeans that can only continue to handicap our country as we try to move forward. You missed the point completely about those dead presidents helping the economy which as a “business owner” you should have gotten.

Ironically, every child I know whose tuition was paid courtesy of Belizeans like Josie whom you chose to ridicule have gone on to lead productive lives. Take care of that ball sack, then get your head out of that place where that is your only view. Peace & the best for 2011.
