Clergy’s Christmas message
2010 is soon coming to a close. But it is the night before Christmas and although the city is bustling with commerce for an occasion that is mostly celebrated as the gift giving time of year, it is more than simply that. News Five spoke to Canon Leroy Flowers of the Anglican Mission this morning about the true meaning of Christmas.
Canon Leroy Flowers, Anglican Mission
“Let me wish all in TV land, a very blessed and wonderful Christmas. Despite of all the challenges we face the Christmas story rings anew. The children of Israel sat in darkness when God decided to reveal himself to them. And so it is that as we as Christians celebrate this wonderful season, remember what it is all about: it is a message of hope, it is a message of light, it is a message that God cares; that even though all seems so hopeless, it is our responsibility who have seen this light, to share this light, which is Christ, with the world. It is my prayer that this Christmas season, we will renew ourselves by trusting in God more, by learning to forgive, learning to love, learning to care, learning to listen and of course to enjoy life because that is really what his life is all about and why he came. Remember the whole purpose of the Christmas story is to restore man back to God. And this is one of the phases in God’s eternal plan to bring us back to him. And therefore for us, it is a wonderful season, despite of the pain, the darkness that we find ourselves engulfed in. And so I want to wish one and all a very blessed, happy and wonderful Christmas tide.”
Around the country, churchgoers will be attending midnight masses to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Christ was not born in December. Can’t understand why people don’t get that simple fact.
Maybe Mr. Flowers needs to hit the streets…………..AND FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS.
HE NEEDS TO BE SAVING SOULS………………..ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS
cg and Earl Grey, i guess u guys have nothing good to do in life, why don’t you shut the hell up, scratch your @$$#$ and find something more constructive to do than criticize peoples good regards in this season. Merry Xmas!!!
…. oh and a Happy new Year!
Nice to see this man is still showing his godly heart if though not appreciated by some, perhaps somewhere in Belize some still gives a !@#$ about the churches, and the words of god.
Keep preaching, perhaps the lost and the ignorant will somehow wonder back on the path of faith.
