Hunting party mistakes brother for jaguar; family in mourning
It’s not a case of murder, but the Christmas season will not be the same for a family in Punta Gorda. At around ten-thirty on Tuesday night, three brothers from Medina Bank Village, Augusto, Cesar, and Ricardo Cak headed to a pasture about two miles away. They were hunting a jaguar they believe had been killing their chickens, ducks, pigs and cattle. After they waited right into the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the jaguar was spotted at around four o’clock. The brothers pursued it into the bushes and eventually split up, taking different trails. And under the cover of darkness, the youngest of the brothers, eighteen year old Cesar, who carried only a flashlight, was accidentally shot by the oldest sibling, twenty-five year old Ricardo. Cesar received several injuries to the chest and abdomen and died almost immediately. The report was made by twenty-four year old Ricardo and police have launched an investigation.
its sad wen dis type of !@#$ happen, but wen will bzean learn. i had dah opportunity of going hunting once while in bze an di first tingweh i neva like was its at night i was like what dah @#$% den while hunting dude tell me we got to split up i was like hell no i staying rite behind u. heard dat shot u by mistake 2 many time. he was mad an blame us not getting nothing on me but hey i made it out alive
Thou shall not kill………You invaded the Jaguar’s territory………. there is a price to pay.
THERE IS A LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE……………….
Time to get some hunting legislation passed in the House of Rep.; for example, requiring hunters to wear the bright, fluorescent orange jackets/shirts to prevent being mistaken for game. Following such a law, could have saved this man’s life.
Such a legislation will require years of educational awareness in the villages, but it would be worth the effort to prevent a similar tragedy from repeating.
Sympathies to the family’s loss, and I hope they receive assistance from an organization that can safely capture and relocate the jaguar that has been eating their food.
What a waste of life.
This has happened before, hopefully some will learn from these tragedies and leave the hunting for professionals.
Thatt is so sadHe will never be able to live with himself.
This makes no sense, the brother assumed the jaguar was holding the light in his mouth or what? If I remember correctly, hunters strap that light to their foreheads. Jesus people, you are making the folks in Appalachia look like geniuses, at least they mistake annoying mother in laws & wayward spouses for deer.
dahrealdeal, I’m with you, at least Cheney’s friend lived to apologize to him for getting shot in the face, you may not have been that fortunate.
