Bomb scare on the Western Highway

But on the Western Highway near its junction with the Spanish Lookout Road, traffic was restored late in the afternoon.  Explosives expert David Jones of the Belize Defense Force responded to an area near the entrance to the Spanish Lookout community this afternoon where a canister suspected to have been a live hand grenade was discovered.  The vicinity had been cordoned off by law enforcement officers until Jones arrived a short while later.  Following a thorough inspection of the object it was determined that it was not an explosive device.  Preliminary investigations also indicated that the ‘so called’ grenade had either been mock ammunition or a detonated shell.

Could this be a part of the grenades that were stolen last year or something that fell off a BDF truck?

Or was this a warning to someone in the area?
