4th and 5th murders of the weekend; Orange Walk is the location

It was the countdown to Christmas and many were busy winding down preparations. But in Orange Walk, the fourth and fifth horrific murders interrupted the festive weekend. In the first case, Reginald Rowley was bludgeoned to death at his home by his step-son, twenty-one year old Amir Dominguez of San Jose Village, Orange Walk, who is now facing a murder charge.  Not far away, in Carmelita another man met his death in a chopping incident. News Five’s Marion Ali reports on the two slayings.

Seventy-two year old Reginal Rowley had moved into this house only a month prior to the incident on Christmas Eve.   Reports are that his stepson, Amir Dominguez, who was under the influence of alcohol, beat him so badly during an argument that the elderly citizen died of the injuries.  Dominguez allegedly attacked Rowley inside his house and used a stool like this one and a crowbar to inflict the fatal blows.  No one heard the commotion and by the time Rowley’s wife discovered him it was too late.  Aleidy Wicab was his neighbor.

“When me come and buy ice, he tells me its two dollars for you. He likes to play with me.  When my young babies – “Hombrecito, where are you? Let’s go and buy.”  He carry my babies and buy. When he come back, “I already ker your hombrecitos.”

“You didn’t hear anything the day when it happened?”

“No I didn’t hear anything because…”

“Was there music or noise?”

Aleidy Wicab

“No, no noise, but me and my father was in the front.”

The murderous rampage also included another rural community in Orange Walk – Carmelita on Christmas Eve.  This was where a fight with machetes escalated to the murder of a father of two.  Forty-four year old Gregorio Bul was chopped to death, allegedly by the brother of a man who he attacked with a machete.  Bul’s widow, Inecia Bul, told News Five that her husband was at home for the entire day baking cakes for his children and left saying he was going to the shop.

“He get on his bike and he went.  That was about eight-thirty, and from there I had no idea where he was and ten-thirty reach.  That was when I heard the noise from his bike, he throw it down and I come outside and he was in the kitchen searching for machete. He get his machete and I was trying to hold him.  I couldn’t stop him, and he didn’t even tell me a word, nothing.”

Inecia Bul never saw her husband alive again.  She said sometime before eleven on Christmas Eve night she got a call from her sister informing her that he had been seriously injured in a machete brawl not far from home.  Gregorio Bul died before his wife reached the hospital.  She says the incident will leave her and their two children with a pain that they will feel every year at Christmastime.  Police have charged Fidel O’Campo of the same village with murder in connection with the incident.  Marion Ali for News Five.

Police claim that Gregorio Bul was chopped to death after he attacked Anastacio O’Campo.  That was when Anastacio’s brother, Fidel, got involved and chopped Bul to death.

People if you have to drink, do so at home & go to sleep. In less than one week, we have a father whose head was split open, a daughter who lost her hand & another son with a head injury & we now have a man dead, all because idiots were wielding machetes & another murdered because no one had the ability to talk or walk away from a misunderstanding or insult. I won’t even mention the idiot at the wake or the animal in the earlier story. Do we have to start licensing & outlawing knives & machetes? Sorry Earl, our boys are behaving worse than animals.

Here we have MORE CANDIDATES FOR THE PRISON FARM………….

BELIZE WOULD IMPROVE GREATLY WITH A PRISON FARM….. they can EARN THEIR KEEP AND PROVIDE FOR THE REST OF SOCIETY

OTHERWISE WE ARE JUST WAREHOUSING HUMANS……… WHO VIOLATED THE SOCIAL CONTRACT.

The murder of rowley highlighted the issues that the people in Orange walk are facing. 1) No police vehicle . 2.) no driver for the ambulance… Mein i would wish barrow would look at those issue. The ministers don’t need to have fancy vehicle- give them an allowance to maintain their vehicle and invest the money spent on fancy rides in the police department and the hospital. Imagine the hospital in Orange Walk is invested with ANTS and the plumbing is deplorable the wash hand basin is filthy. Come on mein.. when people are ill they need to be comfortable in their enviornment not surround with medicore service. Who know if MR. Rowley could have live…

I can never advise anyone “don’t drink out there, drink at home” the home is not an environment for people to drink. This is where your children and your wife lives. I have a personal experience with a relative who always drank at home, obviously the fridge was filled with beers and rum and the children were very much interested too since it was THERE. Anyways they ended up being alcoholics and a similar incident of altercation happened and one is now dead. DO NOT DRINK, PERIOD, LOVE YOUR LIFE AND BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR YOUR CHILDREN.

Eve, I am about to whip up some rumpopo, my treat to myself & my family this time of year. My mother, her sister, cousins & aunts made their own wines from scratch every year & we loved it & I never saw them drunk nor did most of their children become alcoholics. Alcohol abuse is a problem & an abusive drunk will act a fool regardless of where he/she is. I guarantee you that your alcoholic relative hid behind liquor to avoid dealing with his own insecurities & I see a lot of sober knuckleheads who are meaner than hungry tigers in our streets. Enjoying a glass of wine in front of our children or choosing to have an occasional drink does not make one an alcoholic or limit one’s ability to parent. Let’s not forget, we serve wine at communion & Jesus turned water into wine. Good luck in the New Year.

  8. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

Drinking alcohol in front of your children doesn’t turn them into an alcoholic, No matter what anyone says, people don’t drink because of someone else’s behavior.
Drinking wine has been woven into the fabric of many societies in Europe; doctors will tell you that drinking one or two glasses of wine per day is good for you. Sharing wine over a meal or celebrating an occasion with alcoholic is a common part of most civilized society. But there is difference between moderate and abusing of alcohol, warning signs are like halo.
