Parents charged with concealing death of child
On Thursday, Belize City police made a gruesome discovery when they dug up a child’s remains in the St. Martin’s area. Acting on information, police visited a yard on Riverside Street where they extracted a white plastic bucket which was buried three feet underground. Inside they found the skeletal remains of a small body wrapped in a sheet. The corpse was identified as one year old Jermaine Tesecum. And while a post-mortem will have to be conducted on the body, the child’s mother, identified only as Therese, reported to police that her common-law husband, Michael Tesecum, murdered the child and buried him on August seventeenth, 2004. She added that Tesecum grew frustrated one night and hit Jermaine on the head. When he died a couple hours later, Tesecum buried him in the yard. Police are checking the child’s records with the Statistical Office to put together their case and are checking with neighbours and the couple’s other five children. Both parents are now remanded to the Hattieville Prison on a charge of Concealment of Death.
There is another allegation of carnal knowledge to report tonight and this time the perpetrator is a said to be a police constable. According to the twelve year old girl, on Wednesday she was at her home when a man known to her only as Devon had sex with her. A medical examination certified that the child was carnally known.
