Three arrested in Belize City explosives find

A few months ago police in Seine Bight discovered a set of explosive devices at the home of an American businessman. Today such deadly devices were found, not far from downtown Belize City. Newly appointed O.C. at the Gang and Explosive Unit, Sergeant Oscar Tzib, explained how they closed in on the find.

“Based on intelligence at my unit received through the course of this morning, they conducted a search at a house here in Belize City, specifically at corner of Plues Street and Berkley Street where my officers along with support from the other units, they conducted a search and they came about with items that were shown to you just a while ago. We had some elements of, you could say, of destruction that are now out of the streets. We managed to arrest three persons; two males and one female who were, at the time, in the house where the search was conducted. The B.D.F. has already been brought into the picture. They have taken some information regarding the items fournd and they will come back again tomorrow to give us a final decision on what the police needs to do.”

“The PE-4, that’s the equivalent to C-4. That’s the clear looking device; the explosive.”

“Half pound.”

“Okay, so you have half pound of PE-4…”

“We have five non-electric detonators, three electric detonators, twenty feet safety fuse and three other connecting caps, as I understood it from the gentleman. He is saying to us like inspector Tzib just said, it only needs a battery and all these components connected together and we get an explosion.”

Police are checking with the British Army Training Support Unit Belize, BATSUB, to find out whether they have such device in stock.
