Ibrahim Smith pleads guilty to theft and wounding charges
Eighteen year old Ibrahim Smith who was recently remanded to the Belize Central Prison for the shooting death of Shenelle Reyes on November sixteenth, 2010 appeared before Magistrate Emerson Banner today where he pleaded guilty to three additional criminal offenses. The charges include theft, conspiracy to commit theft and wounding. On the evening of June fifteenth, 2010 Juan Martinez reported to Belize City police that he had visited a home on Logwood Street to chop a yard when he was assaulted by two young men who chopped him with his machete. The men then rode off on separate bicycles in the direction of Vernon Street.
In court today the conspiracy charge against Smith was dismissed but he was handed down a non-custodial sentence of two fines: a thousand five hundred dollars for theft after he reportedly stole several items belonging to Martinez. He was also fined five hundred dollars for wounding Martinez. Since Smith is already on remand for manslaughter he will be serving the fine in jail time, an additional eighteen months in prison to run consecutively.
Smith has been locked up since mid-November after being charged for allegedly shooting seventeen year old Sadie Vernon student Shenelle Reyes in the chest with a prohibited firearm that was reported stolen by its owner.
Didn’t someone try to pass him off as a nice young man who was not bright enough to know that he should not point a loaded weapon at someone. I will go back to my original statement, put him to sleep before he kills a baby just for the hell of it. I hope after he is convicted of manslaughter he can be sentenced as a habitual offender & spend the rest of his worthless life in jail.
