Attempted murder suspect identified at scene of crime

Story PictureAlso in the courts, a Belize City youth was charged with attempted murder this afternoon. Eighteen year old Leon Ebanks, a resident of seventeen miles on the Western Highway was charged with the attempted murder of Owen Jimenez and one count of wounding when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Dorothy Flowers in Court Number Two. He did not have an attorney but since attempted murder is an indictable offense, Senior Magistrate Flowers did not take a plea from him. She did say that there would be a preliminary inquiry into the matter and if there was sufficient evidence, the case would be committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Ebanks was denied bail and remanded to the Hattieville Prison until October twenty eight. The case is related to an incident that happened on September twenty first. Police say that Owen Jimenez was stabbed to the upper right side of his back. When officers arrived on the scene, Jimenez pointed out the assailant who fled the scene and was later identified as Ebanks.
