Viewers blog about tenders and cruise tourism industry
Tonight the PM and a delegation from the Tourism Ministry are in Miami hoping to broker a deal with cruise lines to avert loss of jobs for boat tenders, who do not have the capacity to meet a new policy by the cruise lines. On Thursday night, we asked viewers if foreign interests should be allowed to monopolize the tendering. Of those who polled, ninety three percent said no. One viewer on our poll wrote that neither Belizeans nor foreigners should have any monopoly on any industry. But we noted one comment that went all the way to say: Ban cruise ships from coming to Belize. This industry is destroying our country.
