Who would think about sending a 12 year old on an errand into Belize City!! Parts of Belize City is dangerous for older people what do you think of a young child.

  2. BZNinCALI says:

Sending a primary school aged child a few doors down to pick up something at the neighborhood store is not negligent, sending her across town or on a bus into town alone deserves a good buss @$$.

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

A child’s business is to go to school with hope that she will succeed, be loved, stimilated, respected and protected by parents. In Belize children are still enslaved by traditional rules, they are expected to run errands, clean the house, do the dishes, wash the clothes, whipped, etc. Mothers need to be less of dictators in their homes, and learn how to love and be protectors of their precious kids.

Parents do not have the right to endanger their kid’s safety by forcing them into hostile territory like the city to accomplish missions or run errands that should be done by adults in the first place.

  4. Hearts says:

That is stupidness to send children primary school age on errand belize got to have serious charge for these stuff. Primary age children are like babies still they still have there milk teeth. I don’t think thats right.

  5. BELIZEANGYPSY says:

I hope the Police is questioning the Mother about the importance of that supposedly errand so late in the evening and not just ask her and leave it at that but make it an important part of the investigation. Lets see what that errand leads to.

  6. Kay says:

What errand could be so important that a mother would send her child into the “lions den” at weird hours of the evening? If it was so important why didn’t she go do it herself? Belize is no playground it is a dangerous place for EVERYONE, you can be sexually violated, assualted or worst murdered so either way your innocence isn’t safe.

  7. Nichole says:

I think it’s ridiculous that the mother alledgedly sent her 12 yr old child out to Belize City to run an errand at 4:30pm in the evening … What kind of Crap is that ?????? The authorities need to take a closer look at the mother !! Makes no sense at all ..Come on !!! 12 year olds need to be at home doing homework or studying not running errands in a whole next part of town …The mother is negligent here !!! Take her to jail

  8. Astrid says:

Of course the parents are negligent by sending children of primary school to run errands. Out of all places, you will send your child to Belize City? The most dangerous place in the country, and at 4:30p.m. when it will soon get dark? Common! by all means, the mother was negligent!

  9. Bzean in Canada says:

some 30 years ago I used to live in Belize, at age 10, I use to go to Basketball games at Birds Isle by myself..it finish at 12-or later when Belikin Wheels and Old Parr would go to over time.I would walk home alone stop at Fat Burger on Albert St for a snack and reach my house on Euphrates Ave . were our parents negligent at that time, how can a child socialize now in Belize, the parks and basketballcourts are killing fields. Both political parties are responsible for our current state of affairs, it can be reversed if there is the political will to do so.

  10. Boomer Dave says:

Is it really just a simple errand that the girl got sent by her mom?

  11. Earl Grey says:

THE MOTHER IS RESPONSIBLE……………………at the end of the day.

  12. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

If these parents are negligent and should be arrested for sending their daughter to run errands then every other parent in Belize today should be arrested for negligence of the same crime against their kids. Belizean Parents need to be more responsible for the kids they brought into to this world, instead of abusing them left right and center. Abuse is abuse.
Even though this kind of murder still shocks Belize, and even after the gruesome discovery of the body on the media there are parents still sending putting their kids safety in danger by forcing them into the hostile streets of their city or their village, or towns.

  13. RadicalBelizean says:

Channel 5 Belize, I think the answer is unanimous, I am pleased to say. Sending a child under the age of 18 to do adult type errand is definitely negligent. Even if this child was going to Belize to conduct errands relating to her own schooling for example, she was only 12 years old and therefore she should have been accompanied by someone of a minimum age of 18.

Single mothers need to organise their lives (asking their extended families/friends for help) and stop using their children as baby-sitting service for their younger siblings, as their handy-man to do the shopping, house-keeping and errands, and as a source to raise extra income. Why should your child suffer for the poor choices you have made? And this doesn’t exempt the men, just remember when you decide to abandon you children, you basically give permission to those with the tendency to exploit and prey on children carte blanche to do so in your absence.

So its left to the government – please can we now pass laws to support and protect our children from predators and exploitation. Let our children be children not little adults who are exploited.
