Belizeans for Justice will open an office

We told you earlier in the newscast about five murders since the beginning of the year; four of them in the city. And while police increase patrols to prevent further bloodshed, the Belizeans for Justice Movement is asking the community to stand together against crime. Two vocal members of the Movement who have lost relatives to the violence, say an office will be open to provide counseling to families of victims.

“We are here to make a difference. Our office will be opened the end of January at forty-six Vernon Street. We’re working together with some business people to help us. We want to focus a lot on the young people from the south side.”

“The scope of it will be to give these people hope, to give them…The saddest thing Marion is when you look at a young child going to school and deh hungry and you could imagine what they di go through. We believe that you have to educate young people, you have to have resources available for them, job opportunities—make they life feel like deh wah fulfill something in the future.”

“The only thing keeps me going right now is the strength of my organization and with their help and my help, I hope that I get justice for my son and the rest out there—not for my son. I didn’t get justice for my son. For my son-in-law, I hope I get justice for him and the rest of mothers get justice up there and we will do everything in our power to fight and help others out there.”

“We need to come together as a people, we need to address these issues that are affecting our young people, and we need to put it into action. I think it’s time for us to quit hiring consultants and experts and get the work done. Belizeans for Justice is here to stand hand in hand with the government and with any other organization and we will make a difference.”
As Schakron said, the Movement’s office will open at the end of January at forty six Vernon Street.

@lovely, if you know how to do any better please do. Sometimes your family is always the hardest to encourage into change. Let us all as Belizeans try to work together to bring positive change. I applaud anyone willing to help bring about positive change. Belizeans for justice please let the public know what we can do to help.
I wonder why the Government isn’t as instrumental in providing these kinds of services to the public since it is so necessary. Can someone please speak for them?
Also, Even if the woman’s nephew has “guns as well” what is that to say about her? Does that define her character? Does that mean she needs to shut up and sit down? Ever wonder why people take revenge on others? Well….because we are so quick to judge others by their “relatives.” This is also why we are so divided. Our situation will never improve if we don’t stop acting like crabs in a bucket.
The woman is out there risking her life along with those who are a part of this movement. If people won’t contribute positively they should just be quiet. We all have things we can be proud or ashamed of and many of them are out of our hands.
