Viewers comment on defending property and lives
The last hanging in Belize was back in 1985 when the noose was tightened on Kent Bowers for the murder of Robert Codd. With crime at an all time high many are calling for the return of the death penalty. But what do our viewers think about killing to defend life and property? On our poll on Tuesday night’s question, eighty-three percent of those who voted said yes, while seventeen percent said no. One person commented in part on Channel Five’s blog that “Sympathy for the devil is a quick way to get yourself killed. No good man/woman wants to take a life, but criminals force you to make that choice.” Another blogger wrote “to protect our country (property) and lives should be one of our important priorities as a nation.”
AMEN to that!
I personally think that Tte death penalty should come back in Belize. In every society there is always a capital punishment for the outlaws in order to deter activities and keep the citizens safe. The problem with Belize is that the criminals don’t have a serious enough consequence for their actions, so they don’t think twice to commit crimes. The truth is, if you don’t get rid of the garbage it will eventually contaminate the whole country as is the present case in Belize. The fact is no one feels sorry for throwing away garbage, if they do they are sick mentally. I say its long overdue that we clean up the mess call crime in our Belize. These criminals are deteriorating our society and eventually even the locals who migrated to the US will not want to move back to help our precious Jewel. Unfortunately “Fish rots from the Head.”
