Will Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers be welcomed back into the U.D.P. fold?

Still on party politics, the national executive of the U.D.P. will meet over the weekend to consider whether or not Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers will be re-admitted back in the fold. Moya has made known her intention to run for the U.D.P. in the Albert constituency even though she was expelled last May by the Ethics Committee after her explosive remarks about the Prime Minister. The remarks were made when she was criminally charged for twenty-two counts of uttering false documents from which she was cleared by the courts last November. Since then she has kept under the radar and was widely expected to run in the Mesopotamia Division to succeed Minister Michael Finnegan. But in the ups and downs of politics she now has her eye on the Albert Division. Mark Espat, the current area representative, has won that division in the past two elections by huge margins and is in fact the first to have broken the U.D.P. stronghold. If the Mayor is successful in launching her bid there, and it looks like she will, then the campaign can be expected to be colorful if not explosive.

I don’t know why this incompetent women wants to run for General Election for a post in Central Government when she and her councilors cannot manage a small city like Belize City. Over the years, the same issues persist: mismanagement and misuse of public funds, the garbage issue, the cemetery issue, the market issue, etc….In addition, City Council cannot even manage a small project…and imagine a NATION!!!
What are her accomplishment of the many years as Mayor ??? NADA…..Moya interest is personal and not nation. She want more money and power. HOW SHE HAS A ENORMOUS MANSION???
I hope PUP, UDP or any political party, present WELL-QUALIFIED PERSONS WITH INTEGRITY AND A HISTORY OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT THAT SHOWS THAT THE PERSON WANTS BELIZE TO DEVELOP….what feasible PROPOSAL does the mayor has ?

Me neither…she only wants a ticket to insure her mortgage payments for her exuberant mansion. She cant even manage this small city. I voted for her before but NEVER again and worst for a representative. She should realize she’s not wanted but i guess she has a myopic view of everything. Lick your wounds Zernaida and ride toward the sunset. Your days are gone.
Good luck Zenaida. We know you can win. Just don’t get into any gutter politics like what the other side will want you to get into. The upliftment of downtown Belize City, Albert and Regent Streets, the Battlefield Park bandstand, public toilet, etc. came from your vision, so DON’t allow no one to try and discredit you.
I do agree partially with u GOBSERVER but although there are many unanswered questions about funds under the Moya organization, we still do not know the real truth behind those missing funds so I wouldn’t convict or accuse her of that crime. However, your other points about productivity on her part was almost 100% correct! Whether or not she was getting support from central government is another story also. But for one thing that I have always said in the past and I will say it again. These politicians should have respect and honor for each fellow politician and Moya disrespected the leader of her party in a rather dishonorable way. Should she have be expelled for this? I think not but she should have be suspended.
Now with respects to competence I think we do need to elect candidates that are intelligent and most of all have common sense! On the PUP side Im happy to see that my good friend Arthur Saldivar could in fact run in that party in the near future. He is smart, reasonable, and a respected young man in the community. So without a doubt he is an exceptional candidate in my opinion.But then again I’ve seen candidates on both sides who actually made it big in elections and were elected but when it was time to give a speech … ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! ! Its only then that some of us will realize that we elected an air head so to speak. Most Bzeans don’t even take time to research a candidate’ s track record and most of the time they could care less about it. So in this case Maya does stand a huge chance of running and possibly winning whatever division she is running for!!
Wow, Zenaida is running in Albert. that will be one to watch. Is she the only woman running on the UDP ticket? She’s brave to take on such a challenge but I think she can win. She certainly has the drive and will power to win anyone she goes up against. she has proved it more than once. Well all i can say is you go for it, Zenaida!

Albert is interesting in that this is one of the few constituencies that historically has not swung every time the political breeze changed direction. Philip Goldson was elected over and over regardless of whether the rest of the country was going Blue or Red. Mark Espat did amazingly well in 2008 despite the “Red Tide” that swept the PUP out of office. Moya would be in a tough spot if she runs in Albert. Even if the country is not ready to let the PUP return to government, the people of Albert have shown that they will always vote for the area representative they want, regardless of party. She brings a lot of baggage with her from City Hall, while Espat has mostly managed to avoid scandal and suspicion throughout his political career.
Moya would likely give Espat a decent fight, and would force him to spend his time, energy, and resources contesting his seat rather then making a run at the PUP leadership. Ultimately Espat would win his seat, Briceno would remain the uncontested leader of the PUP, and Moya would be a defeated candidate. Perhaps this is the UDP end game?
You know, I have never met Zenaida personally and the only thing I know of her is what is presented in the media. I am not a member of any of the political parties so it does not matter to me one way or the other if she contests to next general elections. Just let me say this though….. That woman got Balls !!!! Absolutely no pun intended and no offence to you, Mr. Man.
Zenaida should be judged by her track record and as far as I see it is not so good. As said if she cannot run the City smoothly and without controversy how can she handle helping to run the entire country. Have to give her due respect she does have B—- more than most Belizean men.
I would want Z to get accepted back in the party and win her convention quickly, then she can focus on picking up garbage and fixing the streets, before the election. the city is in the worst state ever, this is dry season so they should be repaving streets but i see nothing happening. they will wait for June to say that rainy season is here. take a drive down maria chang street, Z should be forced to drive thru there every day, many streets have spoils and garbage on the side of the drains from after Richard 3 months ago. come on Z you expect to run on this track record, even blind eye Jamesie di see you stand no chance and so he di sacrifice you in Albert.

BT, my sentiments exactly! Mayor Moya’s only way back into the Party, after begging and groveling, and after some major sucking up to the Party leader, is by running in a Division she has very little chance of winning. Albert is for Mark regardless of the Party in Power.
There are several Divisions with non- functioning and useless UDP area reps, so why Albert’s? It’s not like you live or were born in the Albert’s Division. The PM has finally found a way to get rid of you by allowing the people of Albert’s Division to do it for him.
Is there anyone out there who want to put politics aside to see the development of Belize city? I am just tired of people who use politics for their check book, it seems as soon as they are elected, they start building mansions. I know that Belize have much inteligent people. I remember when we had the highest literacy in Central America. We have so many young people who are returning back home who have studied abroad. Why do we only have these air heads running for office and be embarassed by them when they go abroad to speak. Creole is our culture, Belize is attracted to tourist because we are an English speaking country, yet these politicians have not tried to speak properly…Ask not what or country can do for us but what we can do for our country…. Come on women and fresh faces, we need you to get rid of these career and oppertunist politicians!!
Moya is no saint: she is definately not an honest person, and many do not turst her. If she should win, and the UDP wins again, there will be no cabinet appointment for her under PM Barrow.
Her deputy Willoughby who wants to become mayor is an outright egoist, stating that he is the best politician to come out of the ashes in Belize! Yeah right. He is a tall, bubble-gum jaw of a dunce.
Mark is intelligent but he lacks decisiveness. I would not trust him becasue he always stabs his leader in the back when he cant have his way.
I would want Moya and Mark to hand up the gloves and allow new faces in the House.
If they continue this stupid move and leave her out in the cold they will lose. UDP needs Zenaida and they cannot win without her.

Whatsoever a person soweth that shall he/she also reap. Heaven’s know this country has its fair share of negative mental energies going around and some to spear many times over. The results of the negative attitude is quite evident but we keep on piling up more negative karmas with each passing day, and we wonder why there are so much senseless crimes taking place. Because the vast majority of human being lives on the lower vibration of the mental plane its not realize the real laws of human mental energies. For those of you who want to follow up on this comment I suggest that you google: NIKOLA TESLA, and you will get a real education on the power of the mind. be it on the material plane. The same principle works for the cosmic and spiritual plane.
UDP or PUP it doesn’t really matter who is running the Jewel. Most Belizeans won’t see no significant changes in their day to day life. All these politicians are full of $#!@. Only weak minded people put their trust and faith in politicians. The Jewel have a high unemployment rate. What are these IDIOT !@@$ politicians doing to bring that rate down? Why is the price of everything so high? These politicians are only out for themselves. They all seems to be living lavishly while most of the people are suffering.
