Student busted with a pound of weed in her school bag

A university student is facing criminal charges after she was caught not with books; but one pound of suspected cannabis in her sling bag. The eighteen year old, Idolly Neal, was detained on a bus heading from Orange Walk to Belize City on Wednesday. The bus was stopped at the Crooked Tree checkpoint at around five-forty-five p.m. and when the officers entered, they were drawn to Neal because of the high aroma of the drugs. She was ordered to hand over her bag, which contained two parcels of marijuana. Neal was arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking. She pleaded not guilty and has been granted bail of six thousand dollars. The student was very emotional in court because if convicted, she faces a mandatory three years in prison plus a ten thousand dollar fine. Her case comes back to court on March twenty-eighth.
there should be ZERO TOLERANCE for drug trafficking or weapon possession!!! no bail whatsoever!!!
She needed all that weed to keep her calm & help her myopia. Now you have the baby crying because 3 years in jail is punishment she could not imagine.
Choose better friends, this is a tough lesson but one she obviously needed to learn.
Why gyal Why you had the opportunity to go to University and you gamble that chance away for weed. Come on. Wise up. You did not need to traffick weed. You are attending Uni. Trafficking and crime is for people who have no other option in life. I hope you learn from your mistake and make wiser choices in the future.

Ok let me try and make sense of a rather dumb and senseless act by this young lady. So you’re going to a UNIVERSITY prepare yourself or educate yourself towards a more successful future right? Well, I mean I thought university students were smart, intelligent humans! Now this move by this girl was down right stupid! What did she think? That weed don’t stink? I mean not only that … maybe her innocent profile was not disguised good enough to fool authorities. I think she should get a FULL.conviction without any chance of ever doing this again! It is these people who are small cells that eventually form a part of the growing drug Cartels in Belize. Throw her in jail and lose the keys! !
Perhaps the circumstances especially the economic needs to be looked at before you luminaries offer such prejudicial statements. Life under this udp is one of daily irking of mere survival..It is not the University Jack, it is the life and lifestyle that needs to be underscored

I Guess being smart and a good student doesn’t pay your way through school. Lets learn from stupid mistake people. I know it hard when you have school fees, bus fare, food and everything to pay for but lets find a good way to get by. I really hope she learn her lesson and don’t have to spend all that time in prison.
i agree with you totally chabelli all these things are happening in our country because of this useless gov. we have unemployment is at the highest its ever been in the history of belize and getting worse when people cant eat they will turn to anything for food with this gov only the pm and his family are eating steak every day while the rest of the population is fighting each other for the bone and in some cases for the shadow of the bone so do not condemm her so quickly before you know the situation especially all you belizeans living in the us .

Bigga you’re funny but right. @Judge Aye Riegh, she would have still been in trouble in California because our dispensaries are licensed & if she needed it for whatever ails her, she has to keep her doctor’s permit on her or face possession charges. Life may be tough in Belize & school fees have always been more than we wanted to pay but it does not justify breaking the law. I think this child was snookered into believing that she would not be searched because she is a girl & whatever other BS ploy was needed to get her to go against what should have been better judgment.
This could have all been avoided don’t be nobody’s mule / currier! You have much to deal with now and who you were working for will be free while to spend time! By the way don’t expect to get any visits from them while you are there!

I must say that the young lady knew what she was doing and she knew what would have happen to her if caught.It surely teaches her a good lesson and she must pay for her mistake yet not all the blame can be put to her since

If you do the crime you must do the time……Plain and simple. If she is stupid enough to smuggle drugs then she should be in prison with the rest of the criminals. No excuse we all are feeling the pinch of these lean times but does that give us the excuse to commit crime??? You people need to stop blaming everyone for your bad behavior. The problem in Belize is everyone wants to live large instead of living within your means no matter how hard it is, and they are willing to lie,cheat,steal, and sell their soul and body to do it. I have no sympathy if she was caught with drugs so be it, do the time Missy.

I worry about what is happening to our young people, this is NOT the the first UB student getting into trouble remember the kidnapping and murder of the young girl that was killed so the UB student can tell her boyfriend THAT THE BABY was Theirs, wasn’t she and one of the young men a UB student? what is happening to our intelligent minds are we now unable to differentiate whats good for us, GOD HELP OUR YOUTHS and the HARD TIMES THAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH IN THIS COUNTRY.
Why are there so many people quick to judge this young lady. I am sure many of you in your past have made stupid mistakes and now that your older you can look at her and call her all kinds of names because you know better now. Remeber that we were young once. She is a child and should be given a second a chance! So much more bigger things go unpunished like rape , and crime etc. Its a pitty that the officers dont go behind the real criminals in belize. Maybe this was the only way she could afford to pay her school. University is not cheap!
Sad day for the student, but you musthave been setup, unless the police does random check on the bus. If it is your 1st time sorry, if you had done it before, @#$ catches up with you.
