Police presence returns to Belama

Residents of Belama have been without a police substation for the past few weeks. The substation on the North Side of Belize City was closed pending repairs. But the closure was noted by criminals who then orchestrated a string of robberies and burglaries in the area.   A week ago, 828 Supermarket across the street from the substation was robbed.  It was not the kind of public relations event that the Police Department was happy to report on. Although the substation is in repairs, one door of the building was open this morning when we were in the neighborhood. We also noted that at least two officers have been assigned to the building, maintaining a minimum but welcomed presence in the neighborhood.

Good news… People can you all chip in & donate a Saturday or Sunday to repair the place so the officers won’t get rained on & with that show of community spirit, send a message to the criminals that you all are looking out for each other.

50 million for BTL and we still can’t fix the roof of a police station. if we are so broke why Ministers and cronies ride in luxury SUVs day and night.
