P.U.P.’s Gregorio ‘Papas’ Garcia becomes Corozal Bay standard bearer
So far the news has been about the uproar over uncontested conventions in the People’s United Party. But on Sunday in Corozal Bay, the field was crowded by four aspirants to that constituency. It didn’t quite add up to the numbers of the U.D.P. convention, but still over one thousand seven hundred voters cast their ballots in the convention. In the end Gregorio ‘Papas’ Garcia became the new standard bearer for the People’s United Party. He received a total of six hundred and eighty-one votes, beating Freddy Ewing, Anwar Sharaf and Nayo Folgarith. Following his victory Garcia was sworn in to applause from his supporters.
